A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Can I use a 1000G starter clutch and rotor on my 1000S?

Starter clutch on my 1000 engine is in ok condition but I have a 1000G engine with what looks like a new one. Checked the parts fishe and the starter clutch is different between the models. Notable difference is the G model version has larger diameter needle bearings.

The end of the crank is the same for both models so and the gear has the same number of teeth, so is there any reason I can't switch over to the 1000G parts? A quick trial fit indicates they will swap.

One other question: my crank shows .003" runout when measured on the center bearings. Manual calls for .002" as service limit. I know the crank should be sent in but what is everyones experience with runout on a factory crank? Is Suzuki actually able to hold .002"?

Thanks in advance as always.

.003 I would not worry about it. If the starter clutch brgs are different it may not fit ????, which brg are we talking about ?????. The internal springs and rollers would be the same

The large starter clutch gear rides on two needle bearings, which in part ride on the crank snout. The ID of these needle bearings is the same for both clutches (thus the clutch will interchange between the different bikes), but the OD is 1mm larger on the G clutch. I think it's a pretty simple matter of just using the G clutch with the larger bearings.
