A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Trying to get rotor off my 80 850 and can't find bolt or tool to fit it. It a 14mm 1.25 thread. Can't find any bolt to fit on line or anywhere locally, and no tool on line either. All tools are too large or wrong thread count. I know someone must have found something to work? terrylee:(

Gotta be a bolt supply place close??? Someone once said the axle bolt threads are the same...but I have never tried that route so someone that actually has should advise on that.

Tried spare swing arm bolts and axle bolt from parts 850 I have and too big. Even tried oil plug and it's 14 mm but I guess the wrong thread count since it won't screw in. terrylee

The oil drain plug should be 14X1.25, same as a spark plug. It's hard to tell what might have happened with a drain plug (might be an oversize replacement?), so try a spark plug in the hole to verify the diameter and thread pitch.

If it's 14mm but the plug won't thread in, it might be 1.5mm thread pitch, which is a lot easier to find.

If it's larger, it's likely a 16X1.5 thread -- I have a bolt, or you can order one from McMaster-Carr.

Sorry, I don't remember off the top of my head... :(

Just checked on my spare GS850 engine: it's definitely 14mm X 1.5 pitch.

I have a bolt I found at a well-equipped hardware store.

Here's my crappy diagram of how to use an 8mm socket head bolt to avoid bunging up the threads in your crank:

Thanks Brian, you're right I don't know where I came up with 1.25? Off to buy right one, found locally.
