If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

so Im ordering o-rings and all that for my carbs on my 80 gs1000glt. I want to get the o-rings for the carb boots but the carb boots look different than the ones Im seeing online

For example the ones on bikecliff's site look like this

on cycleorings.com

and the ones on my bike look like this (ignore the gunk and dust for now)

Is this normal or is something up? Also, anybody know what size o-rings these carb boots take? cycle o-rings says 40mm

I think those are the generic mikuni boots, cheap, but I think you're unable to plug a carb sync tool into those.

which ones are? the ones I have?

the vaccum port seems to be in the metal, permanently mounted rather than in the boots themselves

You plug the sync tool directly into the intake on the head - you can see the screw in the bottom photo.

Pull one of your carb boots off and measure I guess?

Also I ordered o-rings for mine only to find when I pulled it off that it didn't use orings. Had wide flat rubber (or whatever it is) section attached to the metal of the boot.

Just renewed mine with new carb manifolds and O rings, Mine also did have originally a square bit in there, but O rings are now the norm.
Ordered from Mick Hone in melbourne $190 for the lot of 4!
Getting there redoing the old shafter!
Next will be a blue and white WC paint scheme and Yoshi decals!

Looking good Coolshaft, sounds like a fun project.

Like the CB X also, looks sharp

What's so confusing about this?

The 850G/GL boots (shown in the Basscliff and Cycleorings photos) have a sync port, and the 1000G/GL boots are narrower and do not -- the sync port is part of the cylinder head on this model. The o-rings still install and work the same way.

thank you bwringer, thats what I was wanting to know if these were the right boots or something aftermarket that was put on just because they fit. I couldnt find any pics.

Yea, mine are the same as you. Cycle orings will hook you up.

While the boot is off it might be worth a little bit of pb blast on those sync screws from the inside if you plan on using them after the carbs are on.

I just ordered some intake boots through Z1 enterprises. Are there two different o-ring types? because the ones I ordered with the boots didn't look like metal. I thought anything else would breakdown or melt.....

You need 2 left and 2 right hand side ones on a 1000G. (Shafty)
Once you put them on you see why as they sit in line so the carburator bank goes on correctly.
RH # 13110-49100 (x2)
LH # 13120-49100 (x2)
O/R #09280-40003 O rings (x4)
Clamps # 09402-54303 (x4) if reqiured)

These o-rings are made from a special rubber that will withstand heat (as well as gasoline vapor). One such rubber is called Viton.

Normal buna-n o-rings deteriorate very quickly in this environment. Viton o-rings will last a long time.
