A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hi, i have am '83 GS 450 at a shop and it's been there for two weeks now. The shop said that they're waiting for a part (i'm guessing carb) and to check back the end of next week... My question is, does it nomally take m/c repair shops that long to get parts? I can't wait to ride!!! :(

Anytime I've ordered parts for my bike, it's taken almost 2 weeks to get the part. So, if they need parts -- that must be what it takes. I suppose they have their source, and don't shop around to find a place who can get it to them in a specific amount of time -- like YESTERDAY.

the only time I`ve waited 2/3 weeks was a new carb boot that had to back ordered from Japan other than that 2/3 days for everything else.....but seems like alot of guy`s here have had to wait forever

Re: carb parts

The biggest drawback to ordering from my local dealer is that they will only order parts from their main supplier (read that biggest volume and best discount to them) so if their supplier doesnt have the part, it becomes a "back ordered" even though someone else could deliver it the next day for two dollars more.

My local Suzuki dealer - Whiteman's in Bathurst (big plug here) gets stuff in for me in a day or two. A week ago an oil filter hadn't turned up by Friday afternoon so he rang another bike shop and had it for me in less time than it took me to go for a haircut.

I never change the oil filter without first having a haircut. :-)

There are also some shops that won't even place an order until they reach a certain dollar volume. I guess it has something to do with shipping costs. If that's the case, you might want to check into another shop for future purchases, especially if you have to prepay for special orders.

Hate to se, wait till you get the bill.
My bud, looking for a CV boot from local shop, wanted $100 off a parts carb. then said they didnt want to breakdown the carbs so they'd sell to him for $600. I coundnt believe it, same shop was good to me so far.
