A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just did my first carb. sync. with my new Morgan tool. I couldn't get 24.5 cm Hg on the 3rd carb. as Wringer suggest in his write up. He indicated that this could me your carb. is running rich. Did highest rpm on air screws awhile back and pulled plugs today and two nice tan (3rd cyl. for one) and other two were slightly alittle darker. I could get all four carbs. very close to each other on tool, but much lower cm HG, around 18-20. I have stock airbox(well sealed with foam) and Mac 4-2 exhaust (with no cross over pipe). So are these numbers ok and should I have all four the same, or outside two a little lower? terrylee

As long as they are consistent across all 4 gauges you should be fine.

How does the bike run?

+ 1, since you do not have the crossover 4 even readings is the way to go.

FWIW, I didn't write that particular guide -- I just host it. The author is listed at the top.

Personally, I wouldn't have included the reference to a specific level of vacuum. There's no need to worry about that, and it distracts from what you're trying to do. It's useful as a ballpark number only.

With that said, if the vacuum reading you're getting is WAAAAAAYYYYY off, then yes, it could indicate a problem. But you would have many other indications of the problem long before you bothered to hook up a sync gauge.

Hi,

Did you try syncing the carbs with the engine idling about 2000rpm or so?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Sorry Brian didn't notice that about the article. Sync. them at 1200 rpm as in write up. Bike does seem to start quicker and takes off from a stop faster. But I was hoping for more power in fifth when "getting on it". Although it is better. Maybe I might need to look at my jets? I do love the new sync. tool although it took me a while to get all four to line up, change one, changes another, repeat. I was also hoping the sync. would help with backfiring when you let off throttle, but not really any change. terrylee
