A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does anyone know what thread size the little ports on intake boots are? M6?

Also, how much vacuum does each carb pull? Would a 0-30in Hg gauges work?

I just recommended http://www.mcmaster.com/ as a source for parts in another thread and thought I might just build myself a carb synch setup and was wondering about the thread size of those ports.

TIA

I never tried measuring the heigth but I think that 8-10" is probably close. It shouldn't be too hard to make but finding elemental mercury might be difficult. At least I'd hope it would be.

I was thinking of getting 4 glycerin filled vacuum gauges so that I don't have to worry about the mercury.

The motion pro looks like a bargain, but I just know I will end up spilling that Hg all over the place and in California that is probably punishable by 3 points and revoking of your M1 license!

Dennis Kirk has some little brass nipples that you can use to replace the Allen screws in the boots. You just leave 'em in. I got one of those allegedly "hookie" vacuum synch tools. The adapters that came with it won't fit up under the carbs, so I pulled one of the screws and it appears to be 5mm so that's what I ordered and knowing my luck it will be the 6's

Thanks for all the replies. As usual this forum is a wonderful resource!
