DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I carry my cell phone in a pocket when I ride. Preferably the inside vest pocket of my riding jacket. Sometimes I hear it, sometimes not. Sometimes I feel the vibration, sometimes not. But I wouldn't mount it on the bike, even if I wanted to talk while riding (I consider riding a perfect excuse to get away from phone calls).

For those of you who want to mount the phone on the bike, consider this scenario. The worst has happened and you have crashed. You are injured and unable to move. Your bike is laying about 10 feet from you, but it may as well be a mile away because you can't get there. Do you want your cellphone on the bike, or on you?
John, good point. Assuming you can make a call but it increases your odds of getting timely help if it is on your person. Preferably not smashed :|

What's a cell phone ?? haha I bet I'm one of the few people that doesn't
have one.

Espcially in CA, I was in San Fran a couple of weeks ago and it looked like everyone was glued to their cell phone. :-D

Where I carry my cellphone, if it is smashed, I either already have the answer to whether or not there is a god, or will shortly. As to whether or not I can get a signal, well, you do what you can, and hope for the best.

I'll second that. However I do wonder which pocket is best. Phone embedded in Chest/Stomach/Groin/Thigh tough choice. 8-[
For the record I usualy keep mine in the inside pocket of my jacket.

To me the best part of riding is not being able to talk. I leave mine in the saddle bags and check it as needed or when i want to make a call. Bike buddy makes a great drink holder that you can out it in.

For those that want to use a cell phone while riding a motorcycle, I have a much better suggestion of where to place it.

Earl Nope, not kidding.

Can your camera be triggered using a cable release? If so go to a camera store and get the longest one you can then rig it to the bars so that you can shoot without moving your hand. Some digi cameras come with a remote you could probably rig that too, to the bars.

As for using a cell phone on the bike...not the best idea in the world. 8-[

My initial problem was finding something that used 35mm and didn't shut off automatically after 10 seconds. Also needed auto focus and needed to be not too big.

I found a Yaschica Samuri half frame camera. There is no way to use a cable release on. It was only for an experiment anyway. I was interested in getting a few shots from the middle of the group riding down the road. It worked o.k, but I'm constantly buying old cameras, so I expect to find something that might work better eventually.

Anyway, after all that, the point was....The Ram mount eliminated virtualy all of the vibration from the bike. Pretty impressive.

I know, how about "On-Star" for motorcycles!! If they detect you go down, they can call the meat wagon automatically!

I used to have one. Never used it on the bike though.

I had a cell phone fall out of my pocket into a pond, then I went swimming with the replacement (I hadn't intended on swimming) and for my third and final destruction of a phone a made the mistake of bringing it to Moosehead last year, where between the tequila and the rain it had an unfortunate accident.8-[

The best idea yet! No more finding a hotel/motel hassles and so on...\\:D/

This company makes a mount for anything. And I mean ANYTHING. Look around thier site, for some reason they don't market the cell phone holder for motorcycles, but they have one. you can mount your laptop, GPS, Big Gulp, radio, camera, PDA, radar detector- ANYTHING. I have one for my GPS. it's super high quality and very sturdy. It will cost about $50, but it's worth it.

Is not true. I am having checked with above site, and they are not having any kind of special holder for my blender. I am thinking it can sometimes get very warm on a ride in California, and when bike is completed, I am thinking it is being a good idea to have a blender to be making mixed drinks and cooling ones self off while riding in the hot sun!
