A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi,

Bought a bike thats been outside for sometime, the choke just doesnt move at all, I mean not even a abit tried pliers the lot and nothing.

So I will buy a new cable, once I but the cable will it become loose, or is is seized someone where else?

any help appreciated

Could be seized down at the business end. Try lifting that with a screwdriver and see what happens. Chances are you're going to have to pull the carbs anyway for a thorough cleaning.

I think a few words have got mixed up on the last sentence but I think what your asking is basically is the choke seized anywhere else other than the cable, I would say most likely no but if your going to replace the cable yourself anyway you could remove it and check that both the choke on the carb is working freely and that the lever on the handlebars is working fine.

I can move the carb sliders on the right side manually. Just cable wont move at all, been putting wd40 down there, but nothing

One little detail that would help just a wee bit, if you don't mind, ...

WHAT BIKE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??

It's nice to see that you have your location in your profile, please add your bike to your signature so you won't have to mention it every time. :o

If she's sat outside for a while you're going to have to pull the carbs off. Chances are she'll need new o rings as well - you could be chasing your tail for weeks otherwise.

Id pull the cable of at the Carb end and see if the slide moves freely first. That will tell you if it's the cable or if it's another issue. If it's the cable, take the whole cable of and pull the cable out of the tube. I have had good luck doing this, then filling the tube with pb blaster followed with a forced injection of gear oil. Drain out any excess then re install the cable and re assemble.
