I am looking to have my clutch cover chromed but I am not sure if it is wise to remove the sight glass. Has anyone done this before?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
Polished aluminum wouldn't be too far behind chrome in it's inability to dissipate heat though. Nobody ever tells people not to polish the aluminum cases though.I was never a fan of chroming engine covers, as mentioned above, chrome will just hold in the heat.
why? its not plated with anything, its jut the natural aluminium cover, just polished. i would say it has good heat dissipating propertiesPolished aluminum wouldn't be too far behind chrome in it's inability to dissipate heat though. Nobody ever tells people not to polish the aluminum cases though.

maybe i should paint my covers in heat proof egg shell paint then hahaA shiny cover will let heat escape less than a dull cover which in turn will give off less heat than a black cover - O level physics experiment with painted eggs (well, there was something worth learning at school then.....something to do with radiation - maybe that's why my hair's falling out - I ought to sue). However, because that cover doesn't get very hot and because the difference between 'shiny' and 'dull' in this case isn't great any difference will be a gnat's t*t.
Polish or chrome away as you like.

I'm working on a clutch cover mounted CPU fan to counter any heating problems I might have ^o
You guys are splitting hairs on this; black, silver, painted, plated, shinny, dull, bla, bla, bla. None of this means squat on a clutch cover.
egg powered boats? i gotta see a vid of this!
you mean you might look a bit of a wally!I'll make one and put it up if I can get the thing to work. Trouble is I'm trying to remember how to do it from about 35 years ago - I might look a bit daft in front of my daughter. Not that I don't already I'm sure!
