I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The first set of carbs I took apart had problems so I took apart another set.

In the second set there were small dome like screens over the end of the float seats. They look to be held on by a plastic band. I assume this means that I cannot soak them in carb dip.

What are suggestions for cleaning them?

I guess yes since the first set ran fine for while and the float seats did not have the filters when I took those carb apart.

You're right to avoid putting plastic bits in a solvent carb dip. Just wash them in hot water with a decent detergent added to it and blow through to finish.

Leave the filters in - they are a second line of defence against carb crud.

Wash with soap and water as directed..then some carb spray if theres still crusted on residue. Then a good blowingb thru the mesh with the compressor will get them ship shape. And i think he meant from TANK crud migrating downt to the carbs.

It is pretty easy to pop those off with a thin blade screwdriver at the base of the plastic band, then dip float seat as usual.

p.s. I like to give them a shot of wd40 first.

BUT...If the plastic is brittle and one breaks..which is the typical scenario..your screwed.. Just wash them and spray them out. A Qtip soaked in some carb spary will clean the well the float needle sets in quite nicely. Choose youre battles wisely because sometimes "less is more".

What Chuck said is so true.
The needle valves would not be a major sources of problems in any regard.

If you have removed them then the business side just needs a q-tip on the seat ad that is the only thing at play in that part.

no dipping would be necessary.
