Cleaning gage faces...

I've got my 1100EX gages apart for some cleaning & lube...

Soooooo... what's the best way to clean those black gage faces without ruining them?? A soft brush & alcohol? There seems to be a lot of spider pooh "dots" on the faces, but I don't want to to scrape them off for fear or messing up the faces.

Also, while I'm in here, is there a recommended oil or procedure to lube up all the moving parts?

Be gentle because that paint almost just rubs off.

Spray furniture polish is just the stuff for cleaning the faces and lubing / protecting all the mechanisms.

I used to swear by Mr Sheen (an Aussie product by the way, one of the top sellers in the UK so maybe available world over?)

However, I've also recently experimented with Sainsbury's own brand lavender polish (all the missus had in the cupboard) and that did the job - this one was off an S (needle wobbled around like a drunk before):

I'll give that a try - do you spray the polish on a cloth & then gently wipe, or use a soft brush?

I just give a light spray direct on to the face and then gently wipe off - no 'vigorous' polishing as that can remove the paint.
