DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Called my local dealer today for clutch cover gasket I was told discontinued
:(

I really doubt they have actually discontinued them. he probably just didn't wnat to waste his time looking up the part number. I have noticed that some parts are being discontinued but I doubt something like the clutch cover gasket is one of them. Try online at Bike bandit or Part Shark or Z1 Enterprise.

I agree, parts monkey busy with holiday season. ;)

Did you have the OEM part number when you went in? I always have the part number in hand if I go to a dealer so I do not have to wait while they look it up and risk the counter guy getting me the wrong part because they do not realize motorcycles were made before they were born.

Unless you need the part in 2 or 3 days (which some dealers can do) or it's an oil filter, never buy from the local dealer unless you are just trying to be a nice guy.

If you would care to reveal exactly which GS1100 we're talking about (Shaftie or chain? Model year?), the GSR Hive Mind can verify availability rather quickly. :D

I dug through the parts fiches at Bike Bandit, and found available clutch cover gaskets for every model that came with an 1100 engine. They're listed under Engine and Exhaust, then under Crankcase - Cover. Parts dude at the dealer needs to go back to parts ordering school, or find another job, stat.

Like the others said, he was too worried about selling somebody a new $400 yoshi can for their gixxer to do his job looking up a $9 gasket.

See? There you go. The Turtleface unit of the GSR Hive Mind has already processed your request and provided the answer.

Kinda eerie, ain't it?

Next question, please? :D

A simple google search for "suzuki parts" turns up dozens of places to order the part from. Look up the factory part number for yourself and take it to your local dealer or just order on-line. Easier still, cut out a gasket yourself using a hole punch and some sissors - get gasket paper from the local auto parts store and use the old gasket, or the cover, as a template.

Whatever happened to the printable templates? That would be a great! There was some kind of issue with sizing?

Why not just buy some gasket material and cut your own?

Hi,

Most of our favorite online vendors are listed in your "mega-welcome". Or you can just click on my website and peruse the "READ ME" file.

I know. I don't need to post in this thread either. But I'm up late fixing *RAY'S* computer. :)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
