A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. I also have a beautiful 1988 GL1500 GoldWing. I just overhaul the motor a week ago it now1626.

Thank you! just made doing the wiring on my 78 1000 much less daunting.

Are your turn signals yellow or red? :-k

Although some leeway is sometimes given in the interest of safety, if your state has mandatory inspections, it may not pass if the lenses are yellow.

.

They are red. If they were yellow, I wouldn't want to use them as brake lights.

Just had to ask, you never know what "the other guy" is thinking. :o

Many years ago I made a trailer adapter that used relays, instead of the transistor versions that are so common today. I am suprised a modern adapter didn't work for you, but I have seen some that did not work for what I wanted. I have selected a different model and it worked fine, so you might try that.

If you still want to try building a relay-based version, let me know, I will sketch it up.

.

When I get back in town, I'll have to sketch up what I have now, and we can talk in more detail then. Thx

You certainly do nice work.Happily I don't really need the 3gen 750 diagram,my gift to those not so lucky.

Thanks. The wiring on that bike is a little odd.
Either that or the diagram was not completely accurate.

Nice work there.

Here's one for you to noodle on:

The lights on my saddlebags are already dual filament. Regular filaments for running lights, using the brighter ones for turn signals.

All is good with this arrangement, but I want to have the brighter ones double as brake lights if that particular turn signal isn't flashing - like most dual filament arrangements work anyway. I've tried using one of the off-the-shelf trailering converters made for this purpose, but no dice.

I'm guessing that a relay mod like your turn signal mod is needed, but also thinking a couple diodes may be needed. What say ye?

I really didn't come up with anything using relays. Seems the more I thought on it, the more relays got added.
I think this might could be done with a couple diodes and no relays. I haven't put much thought to that possibility, though.
This is better left to those with the proper skill level to work these things out.

Can someone confirm the wire colors from the ignitor to the signal generator on a 82 GS750E?
I know one wire is blue, but I can't really make out what the other wire is. I think it says green.

I'm looking for the wiring diagram for my 84 gs 1150ef. Anyone have one? It's not on basscliff's page either.
Thanks,
Trevor

I've looked for a service manual online, but no luck.
If someone has one or finds one and posts a link, I'll glad color it for you.

Thanks valorsolo, I appreciate that.

I forgot where I got it but I found a service manual for the GSX1100, which is the Canadian and European name for our 1150s. If you haven't found it by the time I get home I'll look it up and PM the link to you. It would be hard on a printer but I used the copier at work after hours :D. I might even have the PDF still on my computer. If you send your email address I'll send it to you.

I think I have a diagram. After I get it smoothed out a bit, I'll post a picture here.

Thank you very much sir. I just loaded the PDFs onto my phone and tablet.

I have my four new relays installed. I don't have the horn or aux power relays wired, yet.
And I've only tested the headlight and running lights relays. The headlight worked great, hi and low.
I have aftermarket turn signals and I don't think the resistance is correct, but the relay does what I want for running lights.
