    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

2 of the sparkplugs on my 1977 GS750 are crossthreaded I believe. Are there any tools/adapters that will help me solve this problem? Websites with products for sale or alternative methods would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I think autozone or something like them have a spark plug thread cleaner... but take that with a grain of salt.

There are some thread chasers out there that might be able to sort your problem out. However if the threads are really bad you are going to have to helicoil them

I am uncertain of what size thread chaser to use. And would the length also be a concern? This is for a 77 GS750.
 
No disrespect intended John, but based on your questions you should not attempt this type of repair - you might make it worse. Find a good mechanic, or maybe a machine shop, and have them try to clean the threads with a tap. Failing that, the stripped hole(s) will need insert of some type to repair the threads.
 
You should be able to find a mechanic that can do it without removing the head.... Last one I had helicoiled cost me 50-60 bucks incl. (It was a car though...)

First I'd check what type of plug came out and what's the correct one for your motor. I've worked on alot of other peoples ride and seen alot with standard size plugs that that should of been metric size. Most of the time the standard plug was half the lenght and only screwed up the first few threads. Just by installing new oem plugs solve the problem.

The plug that is in it is what Suzuki calls for in the manual. I think whoever put it in just didn't seat it right and kept on going.

I am just wondering what size thread chaser to use.
