A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cycle Recycle Part II - Parts, Knowledge

One of our better kept secrets around Indy is a greasy, grimy little shop in a bad part of town called Cycle Recycle Part II.

From valve shims to clutch kits, tires, and lots of obscure bits and pieces for my GS850G -- they have an amazing inventory of new parts, along with vast amounts of used parts. The words "we'll have to order it" are quite rare here.

The owner has an encyclopedic knowledge of 60s - 90s metric bikes, and if you don't know already, he will always patiently explain to you how to install or use your new goodies. If you're having trouble, he's happy to help and make recommendations.

If you're not in the area, you can order all kinds of hard-to-find goodies from their web site at excellent prices. Like the shop, the web site is an eyesore, but has an amazing array of goodies for GS riders.

I was just there today to have a new rear tire installed -- I brought in the wheel and walked out 15 minutes later with fresh balanced rubber. In the meantime, I enjoyed listening to the staff help a variety of customers, and marveled at their vast store of obscure, detailed knowledge.

I highly recommend stopping by or visiting the web site if you have the chance. They're a rarity, and deserve our business.

I done business with them a couple of times, and intend on doing more.

Just bought a replacement clutch kit from them for my 1100G (should arrive today!). Bought ignition parts from them last fall, and agree they are a class act!

If the opportunity presents itself I might try to stop by during the Spring Midwest Rally weekend and say "hi."

I've ordered from them 3 times, only one time did I have to call
and they said one of my items was backordered but it got to me pretty quick.
I've ordered two vetter windshields from them.
Overall very happy with service and prices.

They are the best supplier/parts place on the internet. I always go to them first and its rare that I have to go somewhere else. I think its the owner that usually answers the phone, (Rob Eberle I believe) and he is always exceptionally helpful. It is soooooo nice to discuss a tech problem and find youre talking to someone that understands. :-) Great place.
FIVE STARS!

Earl

They get good marks from me. They are very helpful when something doesn't go right. I've talked to the owner, he takes the time to understand the customer's situation. SIX STARS! :P

They are cheap too. I got a Vista Cruise for 10 bucks and billet bar ends for my ZRX for 14 bucks. How do you beat that?

Best damn motorcycle parts store on the 'net and the best customer support/service I've experienced.

I bought some progressive shocks off ebay recently, I'm probably going to call them and ask if I can send them in to have springs put on. I doubt anyone around here will be as helpful as them!

I purchased my chain, sprockets, and new tires from them. It was a good transaction, and the guy was plenty helpful in getting me ready for the 530 chain conversion.

Well recommended.

just ordered 10 filters from them. pretty good price too!

Got them in, on time! great job for themQ@!

I just ordered from them 3 times in the past 2 weeks. All items arrived quickly and accurately. Their prices are not too shabby either. I will continue to do business with them!!!

I've ordered from them too. Very fast shipping, and seem to have everything you need. Even for my wife's KZ440LTD.
Competitive prices. Great place!
I'll gladly use them again. 8)

I just received my shipment of various filtery and pointy things from them. Quick service, and in the past they've worked with me when I've had technical issues. They've still got it goin on!

Dang, it's hard to believe I started this thread over ten years ago!

And yeah, I'm still a regular down there. Although I change my own tires nowadays.

And despite a "redesign", their web site is still an eyesore.

I was just in there yesterday. Angie (Rob's wife) greets me with a, "Hey Brett, whattaya lookin' for today?". When I tell her I need body parts, she says, "Ok, sounds like a Rob thing".

I sit on a barstool in front of the counter listening as Rob patiently explains to someone how to pull the rotor off their 1970something YamaHondaZukiSaki (which he's probably doing for the 4,000th time) using the MotionPro puller they just bought off him, and browsing the myriad of side covers and tailpieces hanging from the ceiling in case I see what I'm looking for.

The stuffed raccoon wearing sunglasses and holding a Red Bull in one paw and a smoke in the other is still nestled in amongst a bunch of gas tanks, watching the counter from a shelf above. Rob and his two boys who work there are still lighting up cigarettes as they talk to customers and run around grabbing parts and writing up tickets (they still use a manual credit card cha-chink thing with carbon paper too) for their sales.

So Rob gets done with the two or three people in there, then he and I talk about what I'm working on now, and as I'm carrying a helmet, asks me what I rode today. He comes outside to look at my GPZ, tells me he has an exhaust for it upstairs if I ever want to go back to stock, and then sells me two CB900F side covers for $40 total.

He then tells me to check in with him next week, somebody is supposed to be bringing in a GS1000 chain drive bike to part out. He doesn't know the year or if it's an E or not, but tells me if it's a '78 and the tank is nice he'll hold it for me and sell it to me for $150.

Before Angie started calling me Brett, he used to refer to me as "Mr. Suzuki". She told him that was rude and he needed to remember my name.

I like the joint.

I've bought from them before, no complaints and pretty quick too.

This is the oldest thread I have seen, wow, 10 years!

Yeah when I saw the date on this thing I ran right out and got a tetanus booster .

Z-1 seems to be the star these days, and I do use them for lots of things - great place. Between these two stores the bike is pretty well covered, and New Enough (or whatever it's called now) pretty much covers me and co-pilot.

And yeah, still an eyesore, and the Z-1 site isn't a lot better. lol

I love old, grotty places like this. So great to feel like you can hang out, jabber, and just soak up the atmosphere.
