I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does a regular GS550 seat fit a GS550E?

I just bought my first bike a 1980 GS550E and the seat on it isn’t something I’m a hugh fan of. I’m having a hard time finding seats for the exact model and year. Does anyone know any place to find a regular straight seat or a range of seats from other GS that might fit it. Any help would be great!

I'd always thought the GS550E was the regular GS550, & they have a relatively straight seat. The "L" models & later yrs. "T" models had the higher stepped seats. I don't remember any seat that fits your bike that would be completely straight, All, I think, will have that little 1" rise...Oh yeah, Welcome, & we sure like pictures.

The earlier, flat seats found on the regular GS550 will fit. The 1977-79 GS750 seats bolt right up too.

That's what I was going to say, too!

And don't forget that there are plenty of people that would like to have your seat instead of the OEM seat.

I've got both, but prefer a slight step seat.

Hey, maybe we could make a trade! Send me pictures of yours in a private message!

My brain locked there for a minute. For some reason I's thinking the GS750, that completely changed in 1980, instead of the GS550. My bad, sorry, & good luck.

Thanks for all the answers! Really helps out! Here is a picture of the bike with the current seat IMG_0772.jpg

Hey Agui, go to the photo gallery on this site & look at the OEM seats on the GS550E's. I'm thinking you're looking for just an OEM seat, nothing like the one on your bike (past yrs. were called double buckets). The "E" seats are almost flat, appx. 1" rise. Like he said, only the earlier "standard" GS550's (the ones with spoked wheels) had a seat that was completely flat...Your bike looks pretty good, but the seat, uh uh, not really my style either.

That style of seat is wonderful, ... if it fits you. The problem, especially with a 550, is that you need to be on the smaller side to fit on the 550 in the first place, and that seat appears to be a bit taller than the stock seat.

Nice seat, but on the wrong bike. Good luck with your search.

The OEM one with the 1 inch rise is exactly what I'm looking for. The current seat is nice and comfy but just not the right look or fit for the bike. Thanks again for the help!
