If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Dynojet stage 3 tuning HELP

I’m waiting for the two petcock bolt gaskets to arrive this week and then I will connect everything and give her a go!

When you said the 3rd slot on the needle, you meant 3rd from the top?

Yes its the position that the instructions tell you to start with. If i remember correctly i had to go 1 step lower 4th slot to eliminate completely a lean bog at mid range at the end

Just for future reference, you can drill jets using SAE (not Metric), fractional, Letter and Number drills, as those drills go in increments of .001" of an inch, some even less. If you go too big, you solder the, and you drill the hole to a smaller size. Happy you got your bike right, I knew you would. :)

Well after 3 years of the bike having sit ( after not running) she fired up quite nicely with just half choke and about 10 seconds of working the starter.

However, I didn’t put the oil filter gasket on quite right and oil started pouring out (oops!). I also had a consistent leak from carb number 3 Although I completely rebuilt the carbs, ultrasoniced, new oring kit.. I did not wet bench test them.

none the less.. I’m quite pleased with how she started and fired all 4 cylinders using these new dual pods and the stage 3 DK kitz

ill keep you posted on how things come along once I get the carb leak corrected!

Leaks down there can be deceving. Did you replace the orings on the connecting T things between the carbs?? Those things need to be from a special material not common ones from the hardware store cause they dry out very quick and leak! Otherwise try tapping the bowl with the back side of a screwdriver it might be that the float is sticking momentarily. Yeah always a plus to fill the carbs OFF the bike to test i put them on a guitar stand fill them and let them sit for 30 minutes to be sure before bolting them on the bike . As for the filter gasket try next time getting some vaseline and working the oring on the groove with your fingers it will quickly take the correct shape and stay put in the groove while you bolt it downjboge123

Yeah I used the o ring kit sold by one of the forum contributors. I unracked the carbs and removed everything. Blew compressed air through, then ultrssonic, then more air. Also ran a wire through every orifice. Set the float heights to 22.4mm and also carefully cleaned the valve seats. Valve needles also seemed to be in good working order.

I know what you’re talking about with the stuck floats.. that happened to me the first time I rebuilt the carbs. I had to tap on them to unstick the float. I did hit carb 1 and 4 on the side with a rubber mallet. However, still leaked. I may try again but this time use a screwdriver on the leaking carb 3. It could be I just didn’t hit the right carb to unstick it.

by the way, those dual pods were a very tight fit. I did crunch the air filter a tiny bit on the left pod. I think the next time I remove and put them back on, what I’ll do is loosen the engine mounting bolts and tilt the engine forward. What I did this time was use a plastic putty knife to put in between the carb and the pod rubber boots to slowly wiggle them into place

10 seconds of cranking? Okay, if it's just sat for 3 years. But everything is not completely sorted until that cranking time is cut by about 90%.

The <<crunch>> part that i have on my left lunchbox filter is where the clutch cable runs down between carbs 1&2. It doesnt affect the performance at all plus its not visible you have to look there closely to find it ;)

Yeah I mean the fuel had to get down and fill up the float bowls. I was also running long lines with the tank off the bike so it seems reasonable it would take longer than expected

If i remember correctly they come pre-oiled. When they accumulate dirt and junk later down the road buy the recharger kit to clean and re-oil them. When that time comes be careful NOT to over-oil them jboge123
