A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Caught half a program last night on satellite about 6 or so UK based teams that put bikes on the salt flats. I have no idea what year this was. Looked like one of them was an early 80's GS. Anybody have any info on this?

Thanks
Scott

I believe I saw a series of programs on U TUBE which followed the preparation and race of several groups at Bonneville. Can't remember the name of it though:(

The program was called 'speed dreams' and broadcast on the BBC in the UK. There was a GSX based bike and an Indian built by Chris Ireland, a respected chopper and trike builder back in the day. He is in his 70's I think and used to trade under the name of Desperate Dans. There is a lot more information on all the bikes on the Brit chopper forum and they will be back this year...

just watched both parts...thought i heard Kizer in the push vehicle when they about knocked the guy over...hehe.
yep, twas him crewing on the stream liner.
a good watch for sure!

Thanks, as I said I only caught half an episode, will be keeping an eye out for it.

Ran into English group back in 2012.They were running a 1980 Gs with a 1327 built motor. They were having trouble getting enough air into the air box they fabricated, believed they took it off and ended up going in the 163-167 mph .

The Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials (Formally known as Bub Speed Trials) will take place between August 23 and 28th 2014. You can run for FIM records, AMA records and there is a "Run what you brung" class. There are several classes that a Suzuki GS of any displacement would fit in and I'm sure there are several riders competing on GS Suzukis. The main official from the AMA is a friend of mine and he says he has alot of fun at Bonneville despite how hard he is working.
You can enter any type of bike you want in any of the classes as long as it fits the displacement and modification criteria and Run What you brung means just that. Put Bonneville motorcycle speed trials in your search engine and the website will come up with all the rules and entry info. There has been a film maker from Chicagoland that films every year and you can see much of his work on You Tube...just look for "Bonneville Stories".

LandspeedRich...I'm on the NW side in the city near Franklin/Schiller Park...Do you ever go up to "Da Grove" or one of the other nearby strips to T&T your LSR bike?

The bike is in the build stage currently and won't be ready until next year.Dealing with my wifes illness and a big move project at work has taken up much of my time.I use to live in Franklin Pk and NW side of Chicago many years ago.Getting ready to run a lakester at Speedweek with some friends, leaving next week.Fair amount of bikes show up for SW to set up for BUB.Haven't done a BUB meet yet,but hope to in future. Rich

Good luck to you at speedweek with the Lakester. Hope the other things that are keeping you busy go good and you'll have the bike ready for next years MC event. Shoot me a PM sometime and maybe we can bench race.
