A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I STILL kick myself for the $300 I paid for an igniter when I first got my bike before I knew better. I need to try an ebay it sometime with a reserve high enough to get a Dyna S, HA!

mine has mechanical advance does it keep that?... whats weird is my bike is a 79 gs 550E but it has the KD/KOK ignition instead of the ND ignition, however the KD/KOK is only suppose to go to 78 according to the Z1 website... am i reading to deep here? should i just ignore the year mix up and get the elec ignition coresponding to the points on the bike? thanks again Nessism..

Yes, you need the right one for your advance system or you need to fit the other style advance assy from a ND model.

Dan :)

You will need to keep the mechanical advance unit on the bike. The Dyna S requires it. Look at your point sets, If each point set is held down with two screws, it is a KD ignition set. If each set of points only has one hold down screw, it is an ND ignition. The Dyna comes in two choices, one for ND and one for KD. The difference is the rotor. You must order the correct style ND or KD set for the rotor to fit.

From what i have seen and heard, an ignitor goes for a pretty penny NEW. You should be able to get enough on fleabay to pay for a DynaS as, usually, they only run about 120. Hrmmm 300 for an ignitor, 120 for a DynaS, which would likely perform as well as or better than stock...Tough decision! lol You'd think Suzuki would realize this, but then again, with as limited orders as they probably get for ignitors, its probably a necessary price for them to even bother with continuing to stock them. Plus there are those who must have everything original, so i guess they can squeeze them for it too..lol

thanks alot for the help guys! ill be ordering tomorrow and thats one less thing ill have to worry about.. after checking my valves (all's well) today im almost certain my problem (no power above 4000rpm STILL) is in the timing/ignition or jetting ( ha i know such an obvious statement) but hopefully this will help!

Yeah, I need to list it. I got a deal at $300.00 really, that was Babbitts. It was closer to $400.00 on Bike Bandit. I also have my stock airbox, the covers for the airbox, the original shocks (which would need rebuild) a bunch of old parts off this bike I need to dump. Good project for the next couple of weeks, getting it all photographed and listed. I need to get a damn picture of my bike too. Gonna tell the GF to bring her camera this weekend..
