A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Has anyone fitted one of these full width frame type guards to their bike?

I'd like to see some pictures of one fitted & also to see if anyone has made one work with an aftermarket pipe. I was thinking of fitting one for my Baja trip for engine protection plus I can use it as a basis for fitting some simple "skid pan" / pipe protection but having lined it up with my 4:1 fitted it looks like it's going to be no good....

Dan :)

I seem to remember someone had one on their bike. But strangely, the front fender got caught on it. Oops, can't turn the bars..

That seems to be a slightly different type. This one goes in front of the pipes... :)

The '82 850GZ which I bought last year had one of these and a Windjammer Nightstalker on it. I never really paid much attention to the finer aspects of it. But, by the time I got it and the fairing off the bike....I had pretty much familiarized myself with every cuss-word I had ever known (with like an exponential value of 14 or so)!!!!

They stick out much further... i.e. the bike can never really fall flat as it will always be propped up by the guard.

Doesn't look like you can fit one with a 4:1 system, not enough access to the frame downtubes. :)

That was me. If youve got a welder to fix what i cut off ill send it to you. Probably gonna have to modify it a little so what happened to me doesnt happen to you. Espescially riding baja

Here it is on my 1100gk

Wow that one is a monster! :)

I think I'm going to go with the other style guards & *possibly* built my own extensions to them as Happy Trails do with their NERF bars :)
