If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Exhaust question

I took a closer look at the 4-into-1 exhaust that came with the bike and I measured the header outlet diameter (2"3/4) and the muffler inlet diameter (3"). They seem a bit large since I was considering getting a different slip on at some time in the future. It looks like the muffler was welded together but is that the regular size for the header outlet? Here are some pics.

Depends on the brand, different brands have different size outlets. V&H, years ago shipped theirs with 2 or 3 different restrictors, so you could change the outlet size. Bigger they were, more high RPM power, smaller the outlet, or restrictor, more bottom end torque. Yosh, I think was biggest, apprx. 3 in.

So then I should be OK if I got a mid pipe that allowed me to use a smaller size slip on?

That looks like a Yosh pipe to me.... Someone spraypainted the can... Find another can, those things are the cats ass..

What I would like to do is to go back to 4-into-2 and use these Termignoni cans....

Where did you find those and what bike/s are they supposed to fit?
Their website is having some difficulties. I cannot find a dealer in the states. :(
Got a link to someone that sells them?

Thanks,

Eric

They would probably sound great on your bike! ;) I run an automotive glass-pack on my 1085 and it has a nice deep tone to it. Plus, it was cheap! :)

I think I prefer the look of the dual exhaust better than just the one. Would it be possible to use the header that I have now (in the pic at top) and convert it into a 4-1-2?

Why not? A good pipe bender can even make the "Y" pipe.

Eric

That's what I was thinking. I even saw pre fabbed y-pipes are available. I was thinking there are plenty of stock pipes for sale and Sportster ones would look good on the GS.

The Ducati Sport Classic Sport 1000 has both pipes on the right side, stacked on top of each other.

I'd be checking the dimensions carefully before spending $500

Yes, I saw what they finally went for!!! I was thinking more of their shape and that they would look good on the GS. Then again I think the Sportster pipes might look good also....And those go for alot less.

So if I do go to a 4-1-2 exhaust what would be a good diameter for the mid pipes? The current header has a 2 3/4 inch diameter. I've seen some universal exhausts that have a 1 3/4 - 1 1/2 diameter.
