    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

These babies are going for 60 something minus shipping on the various parts sites...got it for 50 something shipped from fleabay. Go me.

Now it's time to get reeeeeal familiar with Cliff's tutorial on changing seat covers, and to pray that I don't need new foam. Actually, anyone know the dimensions of foam I'd need to cut in case I do need to replace it? Which I probably will...

Not everybody is lucky enough to have a resource like this available, but I got mine re-covered by an auto upholstery guy for 50 bucks. Lot of them apparently won't do bike seats, but I found one who does. He did it in black kind of matte (not shiny) marine grade vinyl.
 
I almost bid on that cover to have a spare.:D Glad it went to a worthy GS lover.

As I recall it's an OE cover that someone pulled off. Should be quite a bit nicer than most of the aftermarket covers out there.

$50 thats a deal. i got a quote for $100 for mine. I made the mistake of going with diamond custom seats. my pan is rotted so i figured id get a great seat. $500 in the garbage. there nuts. looked like something a 10year old would make. i wouldn't have used it if it was free.
i should do a write up on it.
 
Saw an ad on ebay recently where the guy was selling a stock cover off an '82 GS850G. Comment was that it was in great shape. The photo was similar to the one Jimmy posted so I just assumed. Did a search on completed listings and can't find the ad for some reason.

BTW, the stock seat on my '82 looks identical to the photo in this thread. Not postive though since it's just one photo.

Nessism, I looked at the cover in your photos and it looks like the cover jimmy posted.
They are different than mine.
if you look closely at the picture in my sig you should see what I am talking about. is mine correct or not. Hummmmmmmm?
is yours a day one seat? I need to get a new cover for mine soon.

***edit*** I just looked in the pre-delivery service guide, what do you know, mine is different. someone must have put a ginsu cover on my '82!

Not an expert here but your seat looks to be from a '83 based on this link to GS models http://www.suzukicycles.org/GS-series/index.html. Maybe it was changed along the way?
 
That's the seat, less the grab rail difference.
look at the 1983 Australia sales brochure same trim as yours, with a different grab rail.

time to hunt up a cover...

HELP....I look high and low and wonder if anyone knows where to get on OEM/replica seat cover for my old beast. I want it to look "right" and money is not an issue, within reason. The pan and foam is fine, just the cover needs replacing. Thanks

Look up auto upholstery in your location internet or phone book, and call all of them. I had to call three before a guy said "well, I haven't done one in a while, but sure I'll give it a shot". Beautiful job for 50 bucks. May not find it that cheap, but the "plain" oem look shuldn't be too pricey.
 
Don't mean to sound contrary to the good doctor here...but you won't find a local upholstery shop that can replicate a factory cover. The stock cover has a heat sealed seamed pattern on top with piping, the aftermarket covers have sewn seams which while durable, don't look the same.

Sorry to be a downer.

I have used "Saddlemen" seat covers 2 times on a "G", once on an '80 1000, once on an '80 850. I like un unmarked OEM seat better, but the Saddlemen is pretty nice. It has some extra padding to smooth out ratty foam, which was not a plus for me.

I have yet to get any cover on straight, including on my Commando and on my RD400, but its a great improvement over a ratty seat. I got one from Dennis Kirk, and one from JC Whitney. The Kirk one was a close out.

The one in trhe photo looks a lot like a Saddlemen seat cover.
