A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have posted a new link for H-E-L USA on our Links page. They manufacture stainless steel brakes lines in both OEM and custom sizes. Check out the details on their site here.

No endorsement by TheGSResources is implied. I just thought this might be useful for some of those out there with bad/old brake lines. It made a significant difference with my bike when I changed them out.

I called HEL and they seem like great people. I'm ordering a new line for my GS425 and it was $40 after a 10% off special they're doing now plus another 10% off for mentioning that I'm a member of gsresources forum. I'll let you guys know what I think of the line and their delivery time/service...later.

:(
$70 at my local shop. As much as i like to support local business, I prefer the $30 difference to buy beer.
Next time.

I installed HEL on mine, first impression is VERY good. Can probably make them cheaper, but being able to just bolt them on is very nice, and very high quality.

Just bought a set for my 78 GS1000. They look good and the lady on the phone was great to deal with very friendly and they take the time to help you out.

i emailed them for a price quote for 3 stainless steel lines for the front of my 79 850. Total was $147.00 which included the banjo's. Is this what i should expect to pay to swap out my front lines?

Yes, that's a pretty good price. Banjo bolts alone are normally around $7 to $10 each.

Do you really need new banjo bolts? I always re-use the old ones unless they're damaged or corroded.

You may also be able to use a two line setup, which is somewhat cheaper -- only four ends instead of six. However, sometimes there's not room for the double banjo bolt on the master cylinder depending on the handlebar/winshield/accessories you have.

I got my HELs from a reseller, and I got front and back both for that price, banjos included. It may have been someone clearing out old stock though.

The person who quoted the price said the brake lines come with the banjo's so i assume, i know what you're gonna say next but..., you cannot get the lines without the banjo's.

I've read here that stock banjo's are normally better than most aftermarket ones.

Some comments:

1 - Thanks Frank. Good to see you doing things related to GSes and not just dealing with bickering members or fighting off spammers.

2 - I did not find any such posting in the Links section, not the Suppliers section either. (at least not postings after Nov 9th)

3 - I went to H-E-L website and emailed them an inquireery (used the contact us link sales@h-e-lua.com) and it bounced back to me. "Host computer not found." and "Host h-e-lua.com not found" is specifically what the mail system error message said.

Maybe 2 and 3 are related.

I see they also have a contact us form. Maybe I will try that.
