DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is to be used by folks who sell parts or services for GS series motorcycles regularly, or as a business.

If you are interested in providing parts and/or service to GSResource members it is expected that you will 1) keep customers informed on the status of their order, 2) you will reply to customer emails and PM's in a timely manner, 3) you provide what is agreed to in a timely manner. If personal circumstances prevent you from doing this, then you are expected to inform the customer before any transaction takes place. Failure to follow these basic business rules will force me to ban your forum account and list you in the Deadbeat forum.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I offer vintage fork leg refinishing for any Japanese machined aluminum fork leg lowers (Showa or Kayaba). Of course anodized or chromed legs do not apply! My goal is to get as close to the original factory finish as possible, with the added benefit of gloss clear powder coat final finish for durability. This looks original, but avoids the common failure and subsequent corrosion problems of the old thin laquer that was used in the 1960's- 1980's. This is a specialty that evolved from my restoration work, and involves at least 14 steps.

While corrosion can be worked out, the biggest issue with fork legs is any deep damage: pitting, gouges, hacks, and scratches. The better the existing condition, the better the results I can achieve for you. That said, owners have been pleasantly surprised at how much damage can be greatly lessened or blended out. Note that I intentionally do not over polish or "over restore" these parts- all rough cast sections are left as is, and all stamped factory numbers and letters are kept. Finish is a satin machine brushed look like factory original.

I do all work (including ultrasonic cleaning and powder coating) myself to control quality and turn around times. Turn around time is 7-10 days- your parts will not disappear for months! I will send you pictures of your completed legs for final approval before return. I have lots of experience doing this and stand behind my work. I'm a '81 GS650E owner (also had a new '78 GS750 and '80 GS850).

Cost for refinishing is $125 pr. (plus return shipping).
Interested and want more details, pictures, or references? Please drop me a line directly for quick response at: alexcallas1957@gmail.com

Thank you for your interest- I look forward to upgrading your classic GS!

Super nice looking workmanship. I'm curious what clear coat you are using, most people on the site have had little to no luck, with it either yellowing or chipping to easily.

As I stated in first post:

"...added benefit of gloss clear powder coat final finish for durability. This looks original, but avoids the common failure and subsequent corrosion problems of the old thin lacquer that was used in the 1960's- 1980's".
