A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Four (4) 1981 GS1100E restorations in southern Maryland

I was in the USAF @ Norton AFB in San Bernardino, CA from 1979 to 1987. I ran with a crowd who were famous motorcycle racers in the area, Turbo Fred Yeager and Nitrous Gray Brunelle (he authored a book on nitrous and motorcycles). Through these 2 I met Terry Vance, Byron Hines, and PeeWee Gleason. As they all became famous and I did not, I'm sure they don't remember me. Gary and I were the 1st to turbocharge a 1984 Ninja 900 with help from American Turbo Pak. Norm of Norms Motorcycle in San Bernardino can verify all of this.... This is where I had my 1st 1981 GS1100E and loved it. Over the years I've had multiple bikes, but always liked the older Japanese classics. This year for my 60th birthday my wife allowed me to purchase the silver GS1100E that has spurred so many comments. I assure all of you that me and my bikes are authentic....

OK now that that is settled; my only reason for posted on GSRESOURCES is to find like minded Suzuki fans that could help me restore the 4 in MD. I see several of you are from FL. If I were to bring 2 of them here to Mount Dora? I'm just looking for guidance through the motor rebuilding process. It's been 35 years since I did one and even then I had professional guidance and with the cost of a crank, piston kit, clutch basket, and a gasket set; I don't want to mess this up...

sorry for the delay as I own a home and live in Mount Dora, FL , work in Crystal City, VA where I have an apartment, and a 2nd home in Lusby, MD. The gorgeous silver 1980 GS1100E and the 1976 KZ900B are at my home in FL and the 4 GS1100E's i want to restore are in the home in Maryland. As soon as I get home tonight I will take pics with a newspaper of the silver GS1100E and red KZ900B. You guys are a tough crowd! LOL!

Sorry about that! We've been scammed, conned and drawn into bait and switches enough that we're a bit gun shy sometimes. I have to admit that all the scam criteria seemed to fit, but I couldn't figure out where the hook was. LOL

J whelan rings a bell. I haven't seen him around here in quite a spell though.

Welcome aboard!!

Paul, he forgot to mention his name. It's Mudd. :highly_amused:

I'd be glad to help anyway I can. I'm not that far away.

THANKS!!!! Now I feel part of the club!!! And I think this post is in the wrong section. How do I get this moved over to the Projects/Rebuilds Forum? Or do I start a new post there?

Glad that got sorted out.
Probably best to start a new thread now that the vetting is complete......

And a late welcome.

OP remove you drivers license pic it contains fr too much personal information to be on an open forum on the wretched internet in this messed up world.

Just bought 4 1981 GS1100ES that need engine rebuilds. I need experienced assistance. Anyone near PAX, Annapolis, or DC?

I am still pondering a 81 GS1100E for $5000, that needs an engine rebuild.
I can only conclude that someone elses $5000 is different than my $5000.

It's not the 5k silver bike that needs the engine rebuild, it's one of the four others he picked up in Maryland.

Thanks for the vetting. Shame we have to even think of it. I have 3 1100e's and 2 of them are going to find new homes soon. How can we help?

Yes I bought 1 1980 and 3 1981 GS1100E for $1500 and all of them need motor work. I just got a crank back from falicon. I've decided to do a chassis 1st then the motor so stay tuned. I'll post pics when I'm back in MD next week.
