Scrubbed the wiring harness and installed that today. Installed all the electronics on the panel by the battery box and installed ignition switch. Used wire wheel on bench grinder to spiffy up a pile of hardware. Just about to the point in my process to shine up fork lowrs and engine covers.....let the dirtyness begin.

In this photo you can see thestandard GS1000 dash on the bike. This is what the Red Cooley clone will look like...someday soon i hope!!!!!

Chuck, that paint job looks awesome, BTW did you get a fairing yet, I have (2) original OEM spare fairings if you need one.

Let me know.

David,

I have not got a fairing. That was gonna be my next big ticket item after i get these customer bikes billed out. Thanks for the paint compliment. When time comes to source a fairing ill give you a PM. Fair enough???

Looks like tomorrow ill be able to get back after this bike. Plan is to start degreasing and prepping engine for paint. Been a long minute but i finally decided no more customers bikes till i have this engine rebuilt and in the frame. Ordered a bunch of parts for the last bike which is an 81 Yamaha XT250. Parts wont be here till around the 18th so theres a window for me.

Todays festivities included degreasing the entire engine and painting the lower half. Then i turned my attention to getting the Neways busy and doing a valve job. Lapped all the valves and decided 6 hours in this oppressive humidity was enough. Next will be reinstall the valves and get the cylinders and head painted. Once thats done i need to pull the pistons and clean them up. Its finally some overdue progress.

OH HAPPY DAY!!! Today i finally got the engine assembled. Tomorrows hope is to have it in the frame and start getting things plugged in. I removed the points and installed a MARTEK 440 ignition. Ive had it forever and i hope its still a working unit.

Engine is back in the frame but for the life of me i cant find the little rear cam guide that bolts on the carb side with two 10MM bolts. I remember taking it out and putting the bolts into it. So i started plugging the things into the wire harness and fitted the SH775 R/R. Starting to look like a viable motorcycle again.

Hey, Chuck. Could yo do me a favor and post your r/r swap. Electrical procedures just don't click in my little pea-brain w/o pictures. What factory color wires go where and connect to what..that kinda thing..thanks in advance. Getting very anxious to see this bike whole again. Red & White ones are far and few between.

Got carbs done, painted the cam cover, attempted to paint calipers but the caliper paint looked like crap. Same duplicolor part number and i shook tge can till my arm was tired. The calipers are now in paint stripper. Im gonna just use the black VHT epoxy paint and be real careful when bleeding the system.

Gotta make money when they bring you a bike. but i did get around to sanding the chain guard and fairing today. baby steps when i can get a break.

gonna be a few weeks till i can get back to adding to the bike. i need to get some painting done before the fall monsoon season sets in.

Well its been a long time getting everyone elses projects to a point where i can actually entertain my own stuff...GOD FORBID!!!!!! Today i got around to sanding the primer i put on the fairing almost a year ago and shooting fresh primer. Let it set out in the sun several hours and i just came in from shooting the white. Sure hope the fairing decals adhesive is still good.

Today i shot the red on the fairing and sat it out in the sun for close to 8 hours. Just cam in from laying the decals. My cameras broke so i gotta figure out ac way to get pics from my phone to imageshack so i can share.

We never got any red ones here in the U.S., did we??? How about Canada, did they get them? Patiently waiting pictures.

I thought that, but knowing Canada did get the gold wheels & glove box on their "83" Honda CB1100F's, thought they may have got the red... Got to go'nna look good.
