A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

From 78c to 79s clone

rphillips..

worst comes to worst i can always take a seat off one of my other two 78C models till i can source a seat. Same year abd frame as the clone frame. OR OR a rolled up beach towel heaviy duct taped thrown on there...lol.

I had the ignition wires to the coils crossed and had cranked it a little before realizing i had to swap them around so it was already "primed" so to say when i hit the button. Thats probably why it hit so quickly. Before i came home it had sat about an hour and it instantly hit when i tried it agan. Still need to throw a timing light at it and sync the carbs but i suspect neither sre very far off bsed on how easily it starts

Today bi put on new tgrottle and clutch cables, synced carbs, colortuned tgem, and painted the chain guard. Sge is getting very close to having body work added. Had to order the oval gasket between petcock and tank and piston seals for front nrakes today. till need the orings for the carrier pins and the dust boots.

Started adding body work today. Replaced all the phillips heads with the Stainless allen head kit from Z1. Still need to rebuild calipers, add fairing mounting kit and fairing, And im sure ill stumble into a few other things. So herers pics of where I stopped this afternoon.

Piece at a time, piece at a time. Lookin' good, Chuck. Curious as to why you painted the seat trim red. Won't that look a bit odd bumping into the tail section and side covers..? Can't wait to see it with the fairing. Keep the pics coming. ;)

Today i got te tach cable on, both front calipers mounted, added the vintage Henry Abe breadbox air cleaner, and just got home from using a buddies tire machine to put new rubber on the beast.

ILL snap some eventually. I did all this today after doing fork seals on a customers VMAX and doing a petcock swap on another customers Royal Star. To say im tired isnt even close.
Wrenched for almost 12 hours today.

No big progress lately. I hand sanded down the chain guard this morning and found a 78C model rear rim to salvage the rotor off of. Ill have it sand blasted and repaint it and hopefully this solves the problem of getting the rear caliper to set in far enough to be able to bolt it to the bracket. It is a full half inch smaller than the one i put on so im thinking this is the correct rotor this time.

Bump, hey Chuck, we need to see some more pictures.

Love the progress so far.

BTW did you get the package I sent yet?

David.

I did get the package. I am now saving money to get another front master cuclinder. Seems i will need to go with an 80 G mocel master because they still make rebuild kits for it. Then again i may go with a rectangular one from a dual disc 80s model. Havent really decided though.
