If can raise your front wheel with just your throttle and no much effort in first gear with your stock gearing in a GS1100E;

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So, they in factory stock form raise up the front tire??
I heard they don't do it.
They came with 108-112 HP from factory.
I have jetted carbs, pods, 4 to 1 VH no baffle, Dyna coils, Dyna solid wires and just cleaned the head intake and exhaust ports casting residues .
She runs very strong like hell rocket.
Just trying to figure out how much HP.

get it put on a rolling road, with mileage and depending on use you will be lucky to see standard factory BHP with the mods you got, maybe 1 or 2 if you are lucky.
any one can wheely a bike with the right technique even a standard one
I agree with Agemax, that there are too many variable to try and infer hp from how well the bike raises the front wheel.
I had virtually the same set of mods as your on my 83 GS1100ED but I also had webcams 0.340" lift, and 36mm 1150 carbs.
Never had mine dynoed, so this is a pure "educated" guess but suspect that if your bike was stock 111 hp, you might be close to 115-117 hp with the mods depending on some specifics like what jetting you ended up with or how/if you degreed your cams.
My cams were degreed for mid range at 105/107, and went from DJ stage III 132.5 to 137.5 on the mains with the addition of the Wedcams. I was closer to 118-120 hp perhaps, but definitely slower than a stock 1150 at 124 hp.
With head work, 1168 kit, and rejetting to 145 mikuni (like 155 DJ) I should be in the 135-140 hp range.
Since none of this was dynoed, these are rated numbers not at the rear wheel BHP. It will easily lift the front wheel in 2nd.

If you can get it up 2" you have 105 hp.
If you get it up 18" you have 153 hp.
If you get the front wheel up 3 feet you have just under 200 hp.
If it flips over you have busted your ass.
Seriously, you can't possibly tell how much horsepower you have by poppin' wheelies.

Have the pulls done on the bike, which will give you the answer on HP and torque.
Most of the local shops here run $60.

Like posted above..Way too many variables. shock stiffness, tire pressure, amount of fuel, even where you are positioned on the seat will make a difference. I could pop a wheelie on my 35 hp 650 special. But not could barely raise the front wheel on my FJ 1200 which kicked out around 110 hp.. but that FJ 1200 sure hooked up out of the hole

Anyway, the ability to pull a wheelie is torque, no HP.

Short wheel base bikes with a stiff rear suspension will out wheelie a longer wheel base bike with more HP and soft suspension..Torque or horsepower has nothing to do with it as much as weight transfer.. My 88 rear wheel horsepower 92 ft lbs of torque at 3000 rpm buell(i know i had it dyno'd) will out wheelie most bikes i've rode. My gs 1000 is a SLUG in comparison, my FJ 1200 would take it out of the hole, but no wheelie . None has the weight transfer and wheelie ability that my 650 yamaha had. Ask anyone who has drag raced bikes.. Increase the wheelbase, add wheeliebars to keep em on the ground, which in theory add to the wheelbase

ATB1998, (Not to high jack this thread) A friend of mine had one of those FJ1200. I did the head on it (ported), big bor kit, with cams, flat slides, 4 into 1, that thing went 9.69 @133 on a street tire at our locall drag strip. I witnessed that pass. Rich was an average rider and about 185lbs . A bad bike it was. Those FJ's would run.

I think the 1100s have too much weight over the front wheel to power wheelie on throttle alone.
My FZ1 has 120 hp at rear wheel. On a cool damp morning it will power wheelie on hard acceleration alone in first.
My GS1100 also has 120 at rear wheel. It will only wheelie in first by using the rev to 4000 rpm, back off, let the front end dip, then nail it technique. (no clutch involved) Doing it that way you can stand it up on its rear wheel as high and as far as you like. On a warm day thats the only way the FZ1 will wheelie either. I weigh about 225. Your results may differ.
PS I don't condone wheelies in unsafe places where John Q Public will be whipped into an uproar.

I once (unintentionally) wheelied my 650G on throttle alone, so it seems to me that the 1100 should be able to do it.

.. Yes they will run.. I had a 1989 with less than 8800 miles when i sold it. Fast, smooth, comfortable, just too damn quiet and didn't seem to have much character. I had it to 160 mph with my 210 lb. ass on it. Still had more throttle, i just ran out of nerve.

Wow.... I didn't realize my '74 RL250 had that much power:lol: My buddy was putting through the yard walking speed in 2nd gear, I hollered at him and said to crack the throttle a little. He twisted it all the way and that little bike just leaped up into the air and left him hanging over empty space, looked hilarious sitting on his butt as the bike wobbled a few feet then fell over.

My 81 GS 1100 with a Pichler full fairing and taller than stock gearing will pick up the front wheel at about 6000 rpm in first gear,but usually only in cool weather. Bored to 1105 cc,pipe/K&N filter and mild head porting.
