Fuel leaking down the fuel tap to tank screws

Nearing the end on a 78 GS1000 and noticed that fuel was leaking down the thread on the fuel tap to tank screws. I would have thought these would be captivated in tank but obviously not. Is PTFE tape ok for these or is there a better solution. So close to getting it on the road again but the little things slow me down.

Pick up some new dowty washers (rubber on the inside)

In addition to the oblong o-ring seal (4) there are supposed to be gaskets (6) under the heads of the screws.
I imagine the passage of time has not done them any favours if they are even still there.

i use Dowty washers for the sump/ oil drain plug

I would say they are 6mm, as they fit on 6mm bolt.

If your local hardware store does not have much metric, get a 1/4" washer.

Thanks for all of these suggestions, I've gone for some viton o rings between fuel tap and the tank. Hopefully these will seal around the bolt and the tank when tightened.

Get some silicone grease on them and be careful tightening. They will try find any excuse to twist and tear. I would be happier making something up from gasket paper.
A cereal box with grease sealed up a tap for me and I was not inclined to change it.

Fiber washers at the local hardware store, there's an english size that's just a tad small that you can ream out a bit with some sandpaper to make it fit.

The OEM part number for the sealing washers on the bolts for the fuel tap is 09168-06023.
