If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Fuel pipes for fuel injection

Thought I would tap the combined info here.....

I'm looking to not to have to replace a full length fuel pipe on the Mini Cooper S. It's expensive but also you have to drop the subframe.. a lot of work for a 18" piece of rubber...

So this pipe goes from fuel regulator into rubber via a crimped fitting. From there it joins plastic (I believe it's plastic not metal) fuel hose via another crimp & heads off down the side of the engine bay & underneath the the car to run all the way to the back.

My thinking is:

1. Use some kind of Dormann or other replacement fitting for the regulator to rubber with a clamp.
2. Cut the hose before the crimp & join to the other plastic line.

I guess my questions are:

1. how likely am I to find a fitting for that regulator? This one was suggested by a mini forum but nobody has tested it that I know of.... https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-800-120-Fuel-Connector/dp/B000CIT1C8

2. What fitting & how easy is it to clamp the rubber to the end of the main line?

The other end of the rubber:

This is the plastic line that it leads to....

Ignore all that random plumbing, the guy is fitting a boost gauge but the fuel pipe is the one behind it on the right.

Hey Salty. Sorry no help w/ your problem. I have a 2012 Mini Countryman S.

Are you by chance a member of the North American Motoring Forum? I found that place to be almost as valuable for MINI problems as the GSR is for our bikes.

Yes, I'm a member there (that's where I found the reference to that Amazon fitting) as well as at Mini2. Doesn't seem to be as much activity there as here. Perhaps the newer models get a bit more activity.

The legacy info there available on search is certainly very helpful. This fuel pipe comes up rarely (which seems weird as you would expect all 15yr old plus rubber to be coming up for replacement) and only with people doing the whole pipe... Some reports of just being able to drop the back of the subframe.. either way a big job on your back... :D

Sorry Dan, but not following you. That SURR kit is on Amazon for $114. If it saves a ton of work it would be worth it.

Ed - I saw that. I think mine would be an 8mm or 5/16, I need to measure it.
I have no experience with the various fittings so I guess I want to be sure that I can indeed make up the replacement section with successful fit at both ends before I attempt it...
I can't believe it's that difficult.

Maybe I'm making more of it than I need to & these fittings really are some kind of universal.
