  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What can I say, these guys really suck. I put an order in on march 19th and still havent received my order. I talked to zach through out after the 1st week and he kept on saying nothing has arrived and could not tell me when. Finally, he gets most of order in and i ask zach to send what he has. This was last Thursday, the 8th and nothing yet, not even a confirmation e-mail. I called today and zach told me he found my box and that it wasnt picked up. So this box sat there from thursday to today. I cancelled the remaining order and hopefully the rest will get here soon.

So use them if you want but I will not.

Took another board member who's bike I was working on over three weeks to get clutch springs and a couple of gaskets from them. I told him to order from Z1 from now on. I don't know why anyone goes anywhere else?

They will get anything and everything for our GS's if you just ask.
If it can be found, they can/will get it at a reasonable cost, tell you of ANY delays in finding/acquiring the parts,
ship what they have when they have it, keep you posted when the part/parts become available, save you money on shipping costs, etc., etc.

Z1 is indeed fantastic, and if you need advice along with your parts, and your local dealer is a big old meanie, you should definitely call them. And I agree that it can be difficult to know what's available aftermarket vs. OEM.

But: there's a widespread misunderstanding out there that there are only a few places to buy OEM Suzuki parts, and that it takes at least two weeks to get anything.

The fastest way to get parts is to order local if you can.

Wherever you are, type in your city or zip code and "Suzuki Motorcycles" into The Great Google.

Now, visit the web sites of each of these purveyors of fine machinery and poke around.

You'll find that a surprising number of them sell parts online, most using the same fiches provided by Power Sports Network. Some even have reasonable parts prices. Investigate shipping policies and costs, whether they'll let you pick your goodies up in person, etc. and so on.

For example, I order almost everything through a local dealer, Westfield Suzuki/Yamaha. They ship free for orders over $50, or I can go pick up my stuff (and maybe drool on a few bikes while I'm there, or buy some spray polish) -- they're about 16 miles from my house. They've also been great about calling me when stuff is backordered and when it arrives. Parts prices are lower than BikeBandit, and the free shipping compensates for slightly higher parts prices than those found at a few other places.

Best of all, they get most everything in two or three business days. Sometimes stuff needs to come from another warehouse (especially bits for older bikes) and may take five days.

Check around the local dealer web sites -- you may be surprised. Or if you're really out in the sticks, expand your search to areas within one day's shipping from you.

Now, if you stop in or call and wake up the dealer parts monkey with questions, your parts will cost more than if you pick them out yourself online. Fair enough, I think -- they have to pay for the monkey chow. YMMV, of course.

This maybe should get refered to the deadbeat alerts?

The two local dealers in my area Don't have the cheapest prices. If I have them order something it is usually only 3-5 days, no extra shipping charges. so yes I do business with them. The biggest being Bert's Mega Mall and it is huge Was a Toys r Us store at one time and they have probably doubled the original size. They started as a Mom & pop type store Out on Foothill Blvd with a salvage operation across the street. I bought a 70 Bonnie from them around 1973?

I recently ordered some carb boots, clamps, base gasket, and other bits from G&S; ordered them on Sunday and got them on Friday. I've seen the complaints but after two orders through them (one last year and the other just a couple of weeks ago) I have nothing to complain about. I certainly wouldn't recommend putting them on the deadbeat list. My $.02.

There's a local hole-in-the-wall Suzuki dealership, maybe ~10 miles away. They seem to pull their pricing right from BikeBandit. For small orders I use them and save the shipping.

Thanks for the input. I'll check Z1 out. G&S said they will ship today (tues) but as of tonight there was no confirmation e-mail. I'll wait til tomorrow to see. Honestly, I am ready to tell them open the box back up and use the contents as christmas tree ornaments. I'll wait longer and give someone else my business.

Just to warn you, I haven't gotten email shipping confirmations from Z1 either but their stuff will show up within the 3-day priority mail window without fail for me. Great company.

I found out that z1 is about 30minutes from my work. Small world! :dancing:

I try to give business to the local shops, and the one I go to will give me the same price as internet if I ask and refer to it.

I must say Z1 has been by far the most helpfull of parts houses, quick to respond to e-mails even on this weekend, Fri so I try to go with Z1. My local shop is now chargingn $55. to mount a tire per tire. Is that high?

Last time I ordered from Z1 it took 6 weeks to get valve shims and some gaskets. When I placed the order and told the guy what kind of bike I have he chuckled... "You don't really plan on restoring that thing do you?". I said no, and that I'm doing maintenance to ride it, but thanks for the concern. He insisted parts were impossible to get and it wasn't worth working on the bike.

I had to call them 5 times to figure out where my stuff was. Turned out the guy went on vacation and never processed my order. Someone else had to look on his desk and found a post-it with my info on it. They were friendly enough, but seemed totally unprofessional, and completely unorganized. I expected a lot better after reading the rave reviews from you guys. In the past I've ordered from babbits, bike bandit, motorcycle superstore, revzilla, and a few others without a problem.

Wow Truth, I have yet to have that happen to me. In fact, the gal there (sorry Jeff I forgot her name already but think it was Robin) did everything in her power to see that an order went through after my bank messed up with my debit card. She continuously emailed me to try and help for three days before it finally went through. Thank you!!!

Maybe the janitor answered the phone when I called?? Was definitely not the experience I thought I was going to have. Everybody has an off day I guess.

Brandon.... according to our records, you placed the order on Feb 18th at 11:12am (if you had called prior to this, it wasn't from your phone - Feb 18th is when the order was entered into our business software and the first time your phone number was logged by the PBX software). We apparently messed up and failed to order the two special order parts. You called on Friday Feb 25 at 3:25pm wondering where the order was. It was Monday (Feb 28th) before the parts order was processed into Suzuki. You also called on Mar 7th at 2:47pm - at that point we should have received your parts - but they didn't come in until later that week - I'm not sure how much was a Suzuki delay, and how much was a Fedex delay - we should have normally received them on Mar 7th, but they came in late on Mar 9th. We shipped on Mar 10th. Given the special order parts, we caused about a 10 day delay - and I apologize for that. It might have seemed like six weeks...

Ok closer to a month. Not a big deal, I wasn't in a rush for the parts, which was why I didn't complain. I originally called before the 18th, but I have no idea of the exact date. It was way too cold to ride anyway.

Placed my first order with Z1 Friday night and got a tracking number for the order Saturday at 8:54a.m. I received the package today, did these guys not realize it was a holiday weekend? I'm looking forward to doing more business with them in the near future.
