A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Here it is - But why no number 2?

You can unplug the gear indicator lead up by the instruments. You should have an orange wire which is the +ve feed and a bunch of other wires which head down to the switch behind the sprocket cover. If you make up a lead set from a battery and plug the -ve in to each colour in turn (sorry, can't remember the colour code sequence) you should bring up all the numbers. Make sure you do get your leads in the right way or you risk blowing the thing.

If 2 doesn't appear it's the unit at fault and it's either live with it or hunt down a replacement - they're not repairable. If 2 does light up you've got either a wiring problem or something wrong in the switch.

I think GT380 / 550 ones will fit. They're not the same part number but from memory they are the same size (added bonus if you fit the 380 version - you gain another gear...:D). Still listed in stock in the US part no 36450-45620 for $90 here (no idea what the company is like):

Those clocks are just like I remember them, other than KM's rather than miles.. and as I described.

As said, most likely is the switch or wiring, but you can check the display as Hampshire Hog says..

I had a 550E years ago & swore it was the same selector I now have - Not too sure now?

I think it's a switch/ wiring problem, as it wasn't showing other gears at times, before deciding on number 2 was to go AWOL long term!

Bike at garage now for MOT, Carb bath, Fork seal's, Chain/ Sprocket (Still on origonal chain) & Rubber.

Official launch is 1st April & I can't wait!

Modern bike's just don't stir up that something extra inside!
