I think they would be covered under the "frostys" clause..Frostys is referring to beer, sodas, whatever beverage they choose. As in a nice frosty cold.

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I got to the garage and looked at the carbs one last time and noticed something weird: carbs 3 and 4 around the air / fuel mixture area but on the side right by the thing where you adjust the sync, ok well there's open holes on both carbs but the inside is threaded like some sort of screw goes in bit mine are missing. On 1 and 2 they are plugged in. ?? I wish there was a way I can post a pic.

I wish there was a way you could too. Of course it's not the forums stopping you, but I'm assuming that you don't have a camera?
I wonder if you're missing a vent tee?
Between carbs 1&2 and 3&4 there are vent tees, usually with hoses coming off, which provide your carbs with atmosperic reference pressure. On a stationary bike it shouldn't really matter that they're missing; it should still run and idle. If you start to move and build up some turbulence there things will start to get hairy though!

The things you're showing are intact. This is right below on the right side where you adjust the mixture. On carb 4 looks like he drilled that cap out I wonder if he thought the mixture screws were in there? Oh I do have camera but I'm not sure how to post the pic I tried copying it over but it won't let me

At the very least, you can use the attachment feature (the paper clip icon when you're composing) to post one, and only one, picture per post. You can also link to images that are available over the dub-dub-interwebs, and most people post to some 3rd-party site and link in. Then you're not limited to one and people don't actually have to click on the image to see it. BassCliff wrote up a little doc on doing that and put it on his web site:

In the absence of a 3rd-party site, you can also post pics to albums in your profile here and link to those pictures. It keeps it all on the GSR.

I dont see how those new needles could work properly . Compared to the old ones seems like it would be either starved or flooded . just my 2 cents

I'm not quite sure what that threaded hole is on your carb body but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be open. Can you pull back a little? That needle for the needle valve assembly doesn't look right either.

I can't see my #4 from that angle with tank still on and all, but yes, my #3 carb has that same threaded hole. Empty. Runs fine. Same year/model. Doubt that plugging it can either help or hurt.
That much longer a needle seems like it would definitely cause lean running. I say "seems" because of course if the seat were machined with the longer needle in mind and they were replaced as a set it could be a wash. Did you measure the float heights on reassembly?

Ok guys quick update,
I plugged those holes on the carbs, i rechecked and set the float heights to spec i called dealer to confirm the needles they sold me are correct and he says they are, ok so i installed carbs back in i put the lid on airbox, put gas tank back on and this is where i stopped for a min! Since my prime on my petcock is not working i did it manually so i dont have to crank the engine, ok that being said while im syphoning on the vacuum line i started tasting fuel? So i figured something is wrong with the petcock i dont think fuel is supposed to come out from there? Ok i pulled the petcock out and the diaphragm had a small hole pinched in. I replaced it with another used one i had laying around from another bike i had in the past, i put the tank back full choke and she fired up but only for 5 seconds. Same thing the second time she ran only for 5 seconds and then i couldnt start it again. This was the longest she's ran since she started giving me crap. Guys am i in need of a new petcock? Thanks

Just grabbed one of my replaced needles and looked at your pic. The new one definitely looks wrong (length vs. width) but the perspective of the old one looks correct. The measurement on my old one is ~17.25mm just touching, not compressing, the spring. Did you get new seats with the needle? Like I said if the needles and seats were replaced as a set maybe the seats were re-designed to work with the longer needles. The needles don't look like they're available OEM as a separate part: only with the seat.
Oddly enough - and it's kind of hard to tell in that pic you posted of the needles - but I see what looks like a lip on the new one, but not on the old one. If the old needle was bad I'd expect to see a lip on that one, not the new one. It's likely that if you replaced the needles due to overflow issues, that the petcock vacuum line was actually the source of your overflow.

Yes I forgot to mention the new needles came with the seats. The one thing I never put back on is those little washer looking things that go around the seats and keep the needle from coming out. Those actually grew legs and walked away I could not find them but the bike ran without them. Man this thing is stressing me out, I also just ordered a new kit for petcock.

Have you tried a gravity bottle directly to the carbs and bypassing the tank? Be sure to plug the vacuum port on the carb. also, what condition are the lines in..any holes in them??? New intake boot orings and they arent pinched ?

Hi Chuck,
i have not tried pouring gas directly into the line yet, the boots are brand new with o-rings, the fuel line is new and so is the vac hose.
