If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Can anyone tell me the name of a good inline filter? preferably a clear one with a removable screen. I'm not sure if a lawn mower one would work since theres a bit more flow threw my fuel line then a lawn mower line. So if anyone has had good experiences with their filter please let me know the name and maybe where i could find it. Thanks for the help

You already have FIVE filters in the bike, why do you feel you need another one? :-k

There is a filter on the inlet of the petcock and one on each carb's float valve, so fuel goes through two filters before getting into the float bowl.

However, if you feel you need another filter, one for a lawn tractor will work just fine. Just because your bike is capable of using fuel at a higher rate than the mower does not mean that the mower's filter is flowing at full capacity. :o

.

Just head to your local MC workshop and ask for a 'sintered bronze element inline filter'. They're clear plastic, with a cone of sintered bronze filtering element inside. Hook up to the fuel line with 2 clamps and you're in business. You can reverse-flush to clean them, too.

Ive tried automotive paper inline filters but they seem to work for a few weeks the plug up. You cut them apart and they look fine. maybe todays gas does something to them. Its a mystery to me Id sure wish someone could explain. The bronze ones dont remove the tiny rust particles

Rust particles can be eliminated from the quattion completely by undertaking the electrolysis process on your tank, and then sealing with a commercial product.

It is extremely difficult to completely eliminate rust using electrolysis, being that its a line-of-sight process and the inside of a tank has lots of corners. I used a mixture of electrolysis and vinegar and I still feel like a filter is a good idea just in case.

The petcock already has a much finer filter than the sintered bronze or screen types. Paper filters quickly clog, and none will keep out that super fine rust powder.

An additional filter is not needed and can create problems with clogging or leaks. Filters with plastic bodies will deteriorate and soften or crack.

You have to fix the original problem -- the rusty tank -- instead of looking for a band-aid.

I've seen excellent results by draining and rinsing a tank, then treating the inside with Evapo-Rust. Dump in a couple of gallons, then turn the tank every few days so that the Evapo-Rust reaches every part.

Phosphoric acid will also seal a rusted tank. You will need to flush with water and then petrol or metholated spirits afterwards, though, or the chemical residue it leaves behind may cause problems with your carburettors.
