A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A newbie from Finland says hello. :)

I'm 60+ and have been riding for ages. Got myself an -83 or -84 (a bit of a mystery) GS1000G two weeks ago and wanted to join the forum and hopefully learn a thing or two of these machines.

Thank you for letting me join.

welcome aboard, can learn a lot around here. I think if "83" or "84" would be GS1100G

Hello.

Yes, I agree with you regarding the engine size. So does local Suzuki dealer as well as Suzuki Finland, too.

As far as I can tell it looks exactly like a GS1100G but is just a tiny one liter bike. :D

As for learning, let's see, the main thing I could suggest would be keeping the "molly paste" in the rear hub, as it's really important.

Show us photos.

Welcome aboard! :biggrin-new:

Nothing fancy but I like it. :)

This is taken right after we got it off the trailer.

It has been sitting in warm garage for the past five years and naturally petcock was in prime position. Luckily we noticed it and didn't try to start.

I have been going through various maintenance tasks and am waiting for some parts. Test start perhaps in two weeks or so.

There are zero evidence of crash or such but I do think that the front fender is not what it is supposed to be. Odometer shows 55k kilometers and according to registration papers it has been first registered in April of 1984.

Thanks.

Bike came with Hepco & Becker panniers. They are not period correct but do remind the Krauser K1s a bit so they will do.

Wondering the "letter" after GS1000 on side cover, can't make it out from the picture.

Nice looking bike. That may or may not be the front fender, but it will protect the engine from all the road particles from hitting the engine, and as a whole, it's a very nice looking bike. ;)

Don't know in Finland, but over here the bikes come with an ID plate that shows the date of mfg. Normally if mfg. in August or later, will probably be the next yr. model... and yes very nice looking bike that looks most all original.

I think my wording was misleading.

Shouldn't the front fender on a GS1100G be painted instead of chromed as on mine?

Possibly Euro market only. Certainly applied to the GS850 for some years.

Welcome to TheGSR.
Nice pics in the Random Pic thread.

About the 1000G verses 1100G,I too would have said 1100G based on that two tone paint scheme which makes me think after 1982, so an 1100G not 1000G.... but that is all based in my USA experience here.

Non USA, had some differences.
One difference i can see there is the chrome front fender

Somewhere on engine, front lower of the cylinder head I think, should be the displacement. An "1100G' will have 1074 cc.
