I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Has anyone here had good luck with some fatter grips for there GS? The stock ones are killing me. I have Kuryakyn on my Sportster, but don't think the Look is right for a GS1100E that doesn't have a stitch of chrome. Plus they are like $83 from the local chopper shop. Any good sport bike grips that are bigger diameter?

Thanks,
Dave

Ya know, I've got some Sunlite sport touring grips on my 82 that I really like. Gives the whole bike a "big" feel.

Grips

Dave,
I had carpal tunnel, operated on back in the mid 90's, so my hands are a little "delicate." I'm running dirt bike-style grips on everything, feels good. I have the "pillow" grips on the GS, haven't ridden it enough to say, but I have the same grips on my DR350, and they're fine. Wish they made this sort of thing in black; I got the gray, and I can live with that.

I used some "gel" ProGrips that are just a tiny bit larger than stock, they're nice and comfy. The PO had a set of foam grip covers on the bike, dude's got big old man hands. They worked pretty well for him, and they're probably the cheapest way to increase the diameter of the grips. Bike Bandit has a few.

You'll need to replace them more often than normal grips, but there's always a compromise, eh?

Smokinapankake, Do you mean sunline? Can't find anything under Sunlite. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. Where'd you buy yours?

Dave

Oury road grips - Ive used them on several bikes. not too big or too small. Feel nice, and limit vibration... z-1 has them for under 10 bucks

What do you guys do with the lip on the throttle tube that engages with the grip? Cut it off before installing the new grip?

All the grips I've installed just butt up against the lip on the throttle tube. They don't slip so it seems to work fine.

http://www.ourygrips.com/ best grips I ever used, track bike, mountain bike, dirt bike, choppers, Ive used it on all of them.

btw, about 11 bucks. if you dont like em, put em on your hammers, thats where my old ones end up

You like your Kuryakyns? :-k

You don't want chrome?
You have LOTS of available cash?

How about COLOR-MATCHED?

Only 'problem' is that they are color-matched for an 1800 Wing, but there is quite a selection, you are likely to find one you like. :D
(After you get done cringing at the price.)

The Sunline Grand Touring Grips are fantastic if you have hand problems. They're a good bit fatter in the middle than regular grips and damp vibration pretty well too.

They're not that great with grip heaters, though -- they're too thick to let much heat through.

Madbikebreaker, here are a couple more options for you. Both are longer than most other grips available so they fit the Suzuki throttle tubes pretty well. My current favorite is the # 714. I have had both the Ourys & the #842's in the past and they were also comfortable grips but the # 714 with the thicker middle section and slightly smaller overall diamater than the 842 seem more comfortable for me.

Get a Crampbuster for about $11 which will let you relax your grip on the throttle to practically nothing. Google it for sources...........

Those work well for some, but I won't have one on my bike. Although you can relax your grip, you still have to hold your wrist just so to maintain your throttle position. I find it better to use a Vista throttle lock. That way, you can take your hand completely away from the grip.

I just put these on my 400, and it seems too short?, I can get it up to that lip on the throttle tube but it shrinks back away from it after a day or 2, any ideas (I dont want to cut the throttle tube...
