GRRRR! Crotch rocket A holes!

GRRR!! unsafe knee draggin Doug Polen wannabes! Out for a nice morning ride two up w/ the wife, who very rarely gets to ride with me, nice windy 2 lane road, the kind we all enjoy - from up behind comes a SWARM of those assclowns on their crotch rockets, with ridiculously loud leathers matching their bikes. We damn near ended up in a ditch as they passed us on left both across the double yellow (into oncoming traffic!) and on the left in our lane, less than a foot away, so I ease right little, only to find his phallic headed buddy passing me on the right (this is a single lane mid you). Narrowly miss him, only to almost catch their last straggler passing on on the left in my lane again. All this, within view of the parked CHP, to whom I frantically pointed, he just looked as if to say "what can I do?" he may have been right as within 30 seconds or so, these fools were well out of sight. These guys are the new 1%ers, making the rest of us look bad, and making unsafe for everybody. Go drag your knees somewhere else, kike the effin racetrack! Just needed to vent!

Yea it's sad to see the squid culture evolve, where's this so called natural selection at work already! As far as CHP his car may not be faster than the crotch rockets but his radio is. Should have radioed ahead to have his buddies on the look out since passing on the double yellow is illegal and wreckless riding (passing another rider on the right and left without a wave on) surely is too.

But that's alright if the lazy chp don't wanna do their job everyone will get theirs in the end. Karma baby!

It's fair motorcycle etiquette to allow fast riders to pass you. If you're running a pace slower than theirs, but not giving them a chance to pass, they may get impatient.

I'm not saying what they did was right by any means, especially passing you on the right. Did you think they would be okay riding behind you the whole time?

Etiquette HA! It's a higher precedent etiquette that you not pass another rider in "their" lane unless given permission, it also happens to be law so regardless if you were going 25 in a 55 they will have to wait to pass you unless you tell them it's alright. Obviously the squids weren't following etiquette or law so screw them, don't care who they are or how fast they are they should have stayed back--slowing down won't kill them--trying to pass me in my lane the way they did the OP would have taken one of them out at the least, the bike passing on the right most likely...see how fast those crotch rockets go off-road :twisted: ....."did I do thaaaatttttt" O

I may come off as evil but I'm really ....just when you put my life at risk, don't expect me to care about yours--I could give a rats ass whether you make it home or not.

Passing in a no passing zone caused the first motorcycle wreck I have actually witnessed occur on the Dragon Friday on my wasy to the Southeastern Rally. I was passed 6 times in a no passing zone and I was doing the speed limit when it happened. Granted thirty is not speed, but for the Dragon it is. When I got passed they were probably doing forty to sixty and more for a couple of them. Scared the crap out of me.

it was reading your thread that inspired me to post this one! fortunatley this time didn't result in an accident. I was just ****ed, but it scared the crap out of my wife, as this was only her second or third ride ever!

Aa far es etiquette goes, not this time! I am all about letting a faster rider pass me, its not MY road, but these fools were WAY out of line...there was traffic in front of me, which I was waiting for an opportunity to pass, there was also oncoming traffic, which didn't seem to faze these guys. If I had decided to pass the traffic in front of me at that point, there would have been an accident. But I dont like riding into oncoming traffic!

I agree, but some riders THINK they're going fast enough and that you're okay behind them. They never give you permission to pass. I encountered this a few times this weekend on the Dragon and I had to force a pass without their permission. I don't knee drag, but I'm not going to do 30 MPH across the whole Dragon.

Seriously folks, I wouldn't have posted this if these guys weren't out of line. I'm new here at GSR, but I'm not new, if you know what I mean! I understand your point however, we all gotta respect our fellow riders.

In defense of AOD's point:
Yes, there are alot of riders who think they own the roads and are very very inconsiderate or inattentive (I think we have all ran into or have been that guy at least once). however It didn't seem it was the case in CV's case and I know it was not the case for us.
I think your point is:
It should be ok to pass someone if you feel the need.

To defend CV.'s point of view:
When the accident happened on the dragon fri. we were not riding as fast as some others, but not super slow either (but to be honest I wanted to ride a little faster much like AOD) but since we were not at break neck speed, what I was doing was following girlie_rider and communicating with her via our headsets. Anytime a faster group of riders was coming I would tell her to "move over to the right" and watch out "on your left" or just pull over if there was room which she did. I was also waving the faster riders around once it was clear. I did this several times. So it was not a case of "thinking we were riding fast enough" I knew we were not (at least for this road at this time) but we were at least as fast or faster than the posted limit.
I think your points is.
If your going to pass someone fine, great. I do it all the time, but you have to do a couple of things first.
1. Make sure the person you're trying to pass knows you're there.(so they don't move over into you),
2. Make sure it is safe to do so.
3. Once you've done 1 + 2 should make the pass and move on.





Now In defense of "crotchrocket riders everywere" because I am one. There were no "crotchrockets" in the accident we reported on friday on the dragon. It was a BMW R1200 and a FJR that caused it and a harley 1200 sportster that got hit. Nor were they young teenage riders(squids). Both were at least in their mid to upper forties and should have known better. But these idiots never slowed to look ahead or even give us a chance to wave them around. At the time we were in the "dips" and we were going about 30-35mph. Which is not super slow through there. However they passed us at like 60+mph on a blind curve they ran off of the road on the right hand side mind you and then crossed the double yellow until impact with the harley. It was a dumb move!! For those of you who don't know by now I'm girlie_riders huband (just for the record). I can understand both points of view here. My only bike is a 650 ninja. So when we (me and girlie_rider) ride with each other I have to go slower than I would like most of the time. But I perfer it this way right now because I don't want her out riding her experience and she's only been riding alittle over a year now. She is not a bad rider and I know with more time she will get faster/better. So have some patience it maybe someone just trying to get into this sport we love and instead of getting mad maybe try to teach them the proper way.

Another thing since I ride a sport bike I don't like hearing "those stupid crotchrocket riders this...and that" it's not the bike it's the rider that is very sterotypical. Not eveyone who rides a sport bike acts like that just like everyone who rides a standard doesn't just cruise around. It's just like saying all harley/goldwing riders can only ride on the highway which is not true.

I would be considered a 1%er by probably most of the people here. But I never, ever would pass on the right. I frequently pass on the double yellow, cars all the time and in an instant, but bikes I usually wait for them to aknowladge me first. If I am behind them for a while (more than 60 seconds) and they don't give me the signal or at least look like they know I am there, then I pass them. But when I do pass on the double yellow I always use the other lane entirely, no matter what the road ahead looks like. Keep in mind that in some states it is entirely legal to pass on the double yellow if it is clear.

I really don't mean to generalize, I was pretty hot still when I wrote the post. It certainly isn't the bike that one rides that creates the issue. Its the a$$ on the shoulders that creates the problem.

In VT it is legal to pass on a double yellow. The DOT manual states that a double yellow means it is not recommended to pass. In Florida, the law is vauge, but passing on a double yellow is not considered illegal unless there are specific signs posted. In PA, section 3303 and 3305 of the driver code make no referrence to the requirement of any specific road marking, only stating that passing should only be done if it is safe to do so. It all comes down to how the codes were written.

I am sure if I dug deeper I would find more states with loopholes or just plan bad verbage in the driver code that allows you to pass on a double yellow.

In tennessee it is legal for one motorcycle to pass another in the same lane (2 in one lane) no matter what line is painted on the road. but I wouldn't do it unless they know your coming.

I have 2 "sport bikes" if you would call them that. I met up with some people on Sunday with cruisers, and the look of disdain was quite apparent amongst ALL of them. One even made a comment about how "Sport bike riders are reckless, causing accidents....Did you hear about that accident the other day where that stupid crotch-rocket blah blah blah....." I was a little miffed, to say the least, but kept my mouth shut. Thankfully, another guy on his Honda Hawk pulled up, and he made the ride a LOT better. Then we sat there and quietly bashed the cruiser people for wearing no gear, and brain buckets. To each his own, but don't lump us all together!!
I am NOT a fan of being passed in aforementioned circumstance. I was nearly killed last year by some knuckleheads who were being chased by a cop, I was sitting at a light to make a left, and they passed me on the left. If it hadn't been for the purple truck in front of me not wanting to go (and me cursing him to GO) as these boneheads passed me, I felt the blood drain out of my head.
I go at a good clip, and to be passed on a TURN, which I have been many times, is not only against the law here, but puts MY life at risk, as well as other innocent people. There have been accidents here at least once a week where someone gets killed, and I don't want it to be me, or someone I know. Save your stuff for the race track. Sorry, I know you guys think differently, but there is a reason why there are limits on things. I had a little spill, (doing about 45 in a 20 mph turn) and let me tell you, it changed my thinking completely.

I'm with you Jethro, if I was going to drive the speed limit I would take the car and be comfortable. I will occasionally pass on the double yellow but I keep it to a minimum. I know my roads and I know where its safe to over take. There's no sense in ****ing people off needlessly especially since most have cell phones now. I would never pass someone on a bike on the right. Just like you though if I get no acknowledgment in 60 seconds, what ever is in front of me is going to get passed. Even if its 150 Harleys in search of the next bar (I generalize) on Rt 202 near the Quabin.

Remember Massachusetts Gov Dukakis? The clown in the tank running for President? King of the Nanny State. His great claim to fame was that he eliminated 50% of the legal passing areas on rural roads in Mass in the name of safety. I'd still like to ring his neck, in the name of freedom.
