A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I might be up for some black stuff, both for mine and this 82 im working on. And i WANT that clutch cover!

Josh,

Are you talking about priming or bench bleeding the master? I found a much cleaner way to do this. I found a piece of clear hose that fit very snugly into the master banjo bolt hole, so snugly that I could actually screw it in. I used about six inches of hose, clamped the master into a vise then worked the piston in and out. This way it can suck fluid back in and you can easily see if there are any air bubbles.

Thanks,
Joe

In all things motorcycling, ask yourself, "What Would Joe Do?" There you have it. You have been honored to receive The Word of Joe, straight from the hand of Joe.

Bench bleed (AKA prime) your master cylinder and you shall find yourself at last on the first part of the true path to achieving full stoppingness.

I am trying like hell to get this brake line off the swing arm but I can't get it out of the last 2 guides... Does anybody know a trick to getting it out of the guides that won't make me throw things? :o

If they're the guides that are sort of a tab, you just have to just bend them up a bit. Put some tape on a big screwdriver so you don't nick the paint too much.

The ones that are loops welded to the swingarm where the brake line is threaded through them, they're juuuuust big enough for the brake line end to go through after they're disconnected.

Thank you! I was ready to shoot it...

So Brian, you HAVE to disconnect the brake line to get it off? Damn. I was hoping to be able to get it off in one unit. I will take a look when i get home from work. My lovely assistant is trying her hand at it now obviously. Isnt she wonderfull?? :D

There's always "Flintstones" style braking, too... little rough on the boot soles, though.

Laugh, but Ive seen people TRY! (Im sure you have too..lol)

I've actually done it, but not on anything steet legal. 450 lb SAE mini baja in the faculty parking lot. We didn't have the brakes or the floor working yet, so when the prof started backing his Mercedes out, I had to do something. On a lighter note, the transmission we had mounted was working...
