I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS 750 1982 stuttering on acceleration *Sometimes*

Duodecillion

Forum Newbie
Hi! I have bought a 1982 GS750 which has been renovated and rebuilt by the previous owner.

Possible relevant info:
It does not have the original airbox, it has been exchanged for individual air filters for each carburetor.

It is easily started and works great in idle and in the lower RPM-ranges. Usually works fine all through the rev range on first and second gear, however, in the upper gears there is some stuttering in the mid-high rpms where the bike does not have enough power to increase the revs. If i keep a twisting the throttle it can sometimes get passed this and go in to higher RPM's where it works fine. Other times it just stay in the weak state and and i have to reduce the throttle to make it run "fine" again. It also mostly works fine if i always go through all the revs in each gear (so the bike is always in high enough revs in the next gear when i shift to avoid the low-power area).

The strange part is that its not always. It sometimes work fine both through slow acceleration, and from going full throttle from lower rpms. But most of the time it has the issue.

I'm at a bit of a loss.
Fuel starvation? (not sure how the vacuum etc works on this bike, there is nothing connected to the pipe on the bottle of the gas tank). I have cleaned the carburetor so shouldn't be that.
To much fuel?
Air problems, either to much or two little since they have changed the original airbox, i know that some carburetors can be a bit finicky with that.
Ignition issues/timing? Bad spark?

Anyone here with any good ideas or experiences would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I'll guess your carbs need to be properly jetted. For the best results, find a dynomometer.

First I'd check, as you have pod filters and it'd be relatively easy, the size of the MAIN JETS, with pods quite a bit bigger than the OEM 112.5 will be needed, totally a guess, but maybe 125 or 127.5.... Yes amazing what you can probably learn from reading the link he ^^^^ put up there. .

Hey, i appreciate the responses, i have cleaned the carbs without success, ill take a look at the jet sizes aswell as the link you provided! I'll get back when i've checked it all, thanks!
