gs1000g mild cafe build

Also only reason i didn't install the original in the first place was because i was told that the axle diameters were different and i didnt have the money for swap bearings at the time. Then i stumbled across some random info on katriders and was very pleased with the results

It looks mean with the 19 and the clip ons the front lowered the way it is.. basically all i like to be road worthy is tires a seat and to re wire all the lights so that the cluster lights are included. Also the gas gauge works just need wire that in too. Ohh and the Reservoir cap

I want a 17 in the front but the fact that its as wide as the stock rear makes it ride funky. Were there any gs 17s for the front?
I'm on katriders.com too. The pre 87 Kats use a 3" wide wheel that takes a 110/70-17.
But, I'd stay with the 100/90-19, because you're not track racing and the 19 wheel will hold direction more steady on dem loooong straaaaate Florida roads.

I got all of the instrument lights working, cobbled together harness bits from 3 bikes to make it work since my bikes original harness was destroyed from the sun and a fire at some point (not the one that happened with me last month)

Agreed haha it does ride alot better and lean in muchhhh better haha. Also the header no longer scrubs the ground on right turns when i lean real low so thats a plus. Im sure if i wanted to do say a track day it would actually handle pretty nicely with the 19. My t500 has a 19/18 combo and those are known for being monsters on the track with minor suspension mods.. i believe i saw your build with the gsxr11 motor swap on a 750? Im not a member on there but im always looking on there.. lots of good info

5th gear. sorry for the 1 pic per post it wouldnt let me post multiple pics at a time.
All of the gear indicators bulbs work and the gas gauge works too and seems accurate as its running on reserve at the moment

Seriously thank you guys! The progress seems to be speeding up the closer i get to completion, and the more exciting it gets.
Tomorrow ill probably bring my soldering iron home from work and finish up the lighting harness ans tie it into the handle bar switch that just came in today. I need to make a seat for it too.. maybe that'll happen this weekend too. Although it'll be getting a propper seat later on. Also im almost positive that my roommate threw away the little black lines with the red numbers for the gear indicator, so if i cant find it soon ill need to buy one from someone.

Well lads, ive gotten the harness done. Everything works as it should now. The only think i like is the front brake light switch which i have done just waiting to install the master cylinder and hook it up. Just a little video on how shes running :)

Did you have do modify the katana header to fit the gs? Just the header, I am sure the mid and muffler would require tweaking...

I cut the katana ends off and tig welded the gs ends on. Ill take a picture when i change the oil again soon. Mid pipe fit perfectly unmodified and the muffler actually bolted to the factory muffler mount on the gs frame with the fzr factory bracket. The pipe diameter was 1/16 larger on the fzr pipe so i had to cut the end of the fzr mid pipe and but it up against the end of the Yoshimura mid pipe. Very very simple install. On these bikes seems like the acronym kiss works best keep it simple stupid. Using what i had laying around has turned out to work very nicely with this bike.
