GS1000S front brake hose

Hi,
I'm replacing the old front brake lines on my 1979 GS1000S and have got the two lower hoses from Suzuki but it seems the short hose isn't available.
There is a company who can make up hoses to match but they need some details of the hose to work to.
The one on the bike is a braided steel line but it looks a bit long so I don't know if it's right or not.
Does anyone know what the overall length of this hose should be and if both ends are straight or angled etc?

I replaced my brake lines with braided steel ones last year, but it's a 1978 GS1000 so I guess the lengths will differ. Still have the old ones lying around, lower ones measure 53cm each (21") and the upper one is 48cm (19").
But apparently the upper one can be different as the handlebar might require a different length (US model, EU model, ...).

I've got the two long front ones brand new but the short front and the rear one aren't made any more so playing with those. There is a company who make these but need the length and other details to work from.
Juergen - thanks - the existing short one I have is only 380mm long so I'm not sure if it is just a random one someone fitted in the past or if the Sport one is shorter for some reason.

You can get steel one in black that look just like rubber...but they work waaaay better. I did all mine for $150 Canadian...well worth it imo.

I do have a spare one, about 360mm or 14" (the short black one on the picture that looks new). If that fits your bike, I am happy to send it to you for shipping costs.
Was never fitted. It came with the kit but was too short for mine, so I had one custom made (the 19" one). Send me a PM if interested.

Thanks for the heads up on Apex Brakes, Trevor. I just ordered a rear brake line from them for my 1978 GS1000C. We will see how it goes! (or actually how it stops!)

I think your best bet is to look for a hose shop in your area that can make a custom rubber hose for you. Use your existing line as a base line and cut it up and/or study the needed length and angles for the end fittings, and then instruct the hose shop appropriately. Buying premade lines from some aftermarket company is no gurantee that the length and angles will be correct.

Juergen - many thanks for the very kind offer. I have a steel braided hose but in quite awful blue and red colours but have managed to get a black braided one which I'll try. As it's the short hose and pretty much hidden behind the Sport fairing that might be OK.
David - thanks, I did ping an email to Goodridge but haven't had a reply - they do show rubber hoses for classic cars but I think only steel braided for bikes. The other UK company I know is HEL and they responded instantly and have made and delivered a black steel one for me in 24 hours so very impressed with them.
Ed - you're right and for the rear hose I've found a company here who say they do a lot of classic bike and car hoses in rubber so I've sent my old one off for them to copy - as soon as it comes back I'll put up a couple of photos if it works out OK.
