A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

gs1100e 1982 or 83

Forum Newbie
I just purchased a supposed 1982 gs1100e but the title says 1982 g. BUT--wheels are 1983 and engine is a black with black pipes .And chain drive so it's not a G. Did Suzuki make any black engines in 1982??? This definitely a factory engine .

No guarantees but thinking I've read or heard some states titles have the model yr. listed as when the bike is first sold and titled. So any "83" model bike sold & titled before Jan. 1st of "83" will be shown as an "82". Hoping somebody that knows for sure will chime in.

Let's see... "83" wheels, black exhaust, black eng,. chain dr., I can kind'f picture that bike. Guessing dark, dank, drab blue or fire engine Red?

Thanks all--Yes originally a blue bike--now red--yet to be determined what color next--either the champagne or the red/magenta

2nd gen. GS1100E colors, best to worst ... >>>> Champagne, Maroon, Fire Eng. Red, then that Awful Blue, like mine.... Don't forget what trev said, picture is literally worth a thousand words, plus we all really like pictures

Ooh, sorry! The correct answer is "1983 (11E) red." :distracted:

The '83 blue is a dark, indistinguishable blob. '82 red is morose. '82 'Champagne' is, at best, inoffensive. '83 red is FAST!

Rob, I'd never accuse you of being biased buuuuuttttttttttttt somebody may get that impression.

"That's your opinion and ought to be mine". Proud to see you got that figured out Rob.

Picture is literally worth a thousand words :)

Yes show us a photo....

My '82 had '83 wheels and a black motor, (but not carbs, or valve cover). Also an '82 speedo and rear sets, when I bought it for $500.
Now it has an '83 frame/title, speedo, and rear sets.

Seems was an "82" till the frame & title swap. Gosh that thing has had a lot of back & forth swapping stuff, going on over the yrs. Main thing got it looking great.
