I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I just got this 82 Gs1100gk a couple weeks ago It only has 6000 miles on it so it has been sitting a lot. I want to clean the Carbs and rejet. It is stock air box and I want to keep it that way. I am looking for jet advice. It runs ok but seems lean on the main jet and idle. I am in southern AZ about 2000 foot altitude.
Next question is there a place that I can order carb. kits with the jet sizes i specify rather than stock jets. Thanks for help with this. I just want to do this once.IMG_3035.jpg

If you are keeping the airbox and exhaust, there is no need to rejet. Just do a full "strip and dip" rebuild of the carbs and re-use your stock jets. All you will need will be some Berryman's Carb Cleaner Dip and a set of o-rings from cycleorings.com. While ordering the carb o-rings, I would suggest also getting the intake tube o-rings and new stainless screws to hold the intake boots. Also available from cycleorings.

OK that sounds good . I thought I seen someplace that with the crap they sell for gas today that even stock pipes and air box should still be rejeted.
But if that's not the case its just that much easier. I did order the o'rings intake tube o-rings and new stainless screws.
Thanks for all the great info

If you want to re-jet "just in case" and due to the "quality" of the "gas" available, you might go up one size, from 115 to 117.5. If you wanted to be absolutely anal about it, you can also shim the needles to lift them just a bit. Turning the pilot screw out a bit works well, regardless of whether you change the other two.

Easy bike to tune, no need to change much. Be sure to check valve clearance before tuning and sync the carbs.

Just wondering, Has anyone around here ever tried going up a size on the pilots? Just to let it start a little easier & warm up a little faster. Most all of us, from our local shop did it & liked the results, no ill effects at all. Not that they were hard to start stock, just a little better with one size up.

No need to up the pilot size, just turn the screws out 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

In fact, I don't even see the 'need' to change the pilot jets when going to pods and a free-flowing exhaust. :-k
The need for larger jets when doing that is because you have removed the rather restrictive airbox. However, at idle and low-throttle openings, the airbox is not a restriction. The main restriction there is the throttle, whether it's the slides in the VM carbs or the butterflies in the BS carbs. Since airflow capability in that area is unchanged, I don't see the need to change pilots. I could be wrong.

I have the same bike, how it turn out, have my carbs off now, did you turn the pilot jets out any extra.

have the same bike, how did it turn outdid you move the pilot jets out some.
