A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS1327 Bigbore project

The 1170 has been sitting all winter untouched. Moving to MN next month for a new job and will start building the bike back to glory as soon as i can.........

This bike is going to be revamped....

Need an 82-83 frame, and crankcases.

1170 2.0!!

Somehow I still own this bike( the 1170)

Was very close to selling it last year but couldn't strike the right deal.

Glad I didn't. Since moving to MN a lot has happened, new house/shop, and we just had our first baby last month!

This bike feels like a big part of my past and I still have the urge to bring it back!

A friend of mine welded up the crankcases for me.

Still trying to get a frame for the right price.

I ended up with some gsxr suspension that I can use also. One of these days I'll start into it....

Looking back at at this thread I sure appreciate all the help from you all

Also when I had it running last in a 78 1000 frame, I finally fixed the idle issue that plagued it since I had it. Coil relay mod! Made all the difference.

Congrats on the baby. I understand about a bike being a big part of ones life. Mine has been with me from being single to, 18 years later, a husband and father of 2, well on my way to boring old guy-dom.....

Best wishes to the baby.

Thanks Glen.

so long as you keep the bike you won't be too boring :)

Have to thank Posplayr for hooking me up with a frame. His bike made the ultimate sacrifice!

Hopefully get the frame and wheels stripped and powder coated soon.

So here is what I'm thinking. Nothing special really just the parts I have been collecting.

1170 engine w/RS38 rack
83 frame
Raask rearsets that I couldn't use before since they are for an 83
Works rear shocks
91? GSXR 1100 Forks and wheels
Still have my custom cockpit seat from the original bike
Bodywork-yet to decide on color but frame and wheels will be black. Black engine & pipe.

Need to figure out what makes a these look 'right' with usd forks. I see way to many that just look goofy. Unbalanced.

I think Isleoman's bike looks great. Very well setup and that usd front seems to blend well.

Engine in first coat, will be gloss eventually.

The can of pj1 gloss I bought had a bad seal and sprayed paint every direction.....

Thanks Glen.

Now I need to get better quality photos, for the first time it looks better than it does in the pictures :)

A bit of exhaust work. If you look at the crash aftermath pics you can see the header pipes got mashed up against the frame and the can got flattened.

Trying to repair it since I have a bit more time than money.

Cut the other side of the dents, heated and knocked them out from the inside. The can I rounded out the end as much as I could then finished it off with a small hammer. Either goin to try hydroforming or plugging the ends and filling it with water, then throwing it in the freezer. Hopefully it will push the dents out.
