Hey guys,
Does anyone know of a smaller petcock for a 1981 GS450 tank as I'm having issues with it clearing the side down tubing of a 1982GSX400E. Is there a smaller option anyone knows of?
Thanks,
Chris

On my 450t I was able to take the back off the replacement petcock I bought from Z1 enterprises and rotate it 180? so the vacuum port faces forward.

I have an 81 gsx400E-I think I understand the problem. You want a "front-facing" fuel outlet that doesn't interfere with the frame. You might check out georgefix on ebay.

I wasn't aware a an 81 gs450E tank would fit an 82 GSX400E. pictures? of your issue would help visualize.

this MIGHT be it...I'd correspond to be sure.

I'm not sure the 450 was an E, to fit the 400E it just need the shoulder rubber brackets brought in and the rear bracket added.

Took a while to reply and find a decent photo sharing site so apologies for that. Thanks for the replies guys, yes the petcock is hitting right on the left hand side down tube you can see in the pics. I was hoping there would be a smaller straight swap or an easy way to fix it. I don't want to alter the frame in anyway to fit it in and I don't want to lift the tank to fit it in either. Any suggestions? Thanks

Mine mounted on the correct frame looks nothing like your pix. The frame and tank mounts of the 82 are probably different than the 81 (which is quite likely being stylistically quite different) .

I would note that the 81E tank mounts quite a ways forward compared to teardrop tanks. It might help if you can do this.

the tap is indeed set further to the rear than teardrop tanks- it is positioned roughly where the airbox rubber inlets are. and, thereby wants a tap with a forward facing outlet, even correctly mounted.

I've opted for a standard fuel tap without the vacuum port. Less chance of leaks, looks a lot smaller so we shall see if it fits.
