A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi, I know a lot of you, ok, most of you don't like or discourage the use of pod filters, but I have a set of K&N's that have just realised that the outside ones hit the frame and there is no room for them to fit.
I did read that one guy slightly bent them to fit, but it looks like more than a slight bend needed.
I have no option for stock airbox before anyone says I should have used it, so does anyone have a suggestion or had this prob before?

Thanks guys.

Cant slightly turn the bottoms to the center of the bike maybe??? Ovals or cone style here????

Hi, they are cone filters, thinking I may have to fab a "turn-out" so it clears, then put the filter on, turning it makes no difference as they are round.

Maybe a short thin walled rubber tube type extention???? Kinda like a long stock boot but you clamp the filter to the extention?? Just throwing ideas here.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking might be my only solution, having a slightly longer length to the carb than the other, will this make any difference to the running of the bike do you think?

I cant think of any reason a little longer feed tunnel would hurt anything...velocity is velocity..unless your using a smaller or larger inside diameter than the carb throat itself. I would at least try to keep that as a constant if you can.

Thanks for your help, ok, out in the garage I go :)

Use some toilet tissue roll tubes to do some mockm ups and then get the hard parts to do the mod once you get it sorted.

Yeah good idea, then need to source the "hard parts"
Thanks for your input.

Maybe some thin walled, large ID electrical conduit would work as the extended feeder tubes???????? Metal..thin yet strong..easily cut to length with a hack saw.

You need to get the correct ones for the 550. Go to K&N web page and order # RC 2382. These are for the 550 frame. I bought these and they fit like a glove. You will need to rejet. I ordered mine through 6sigma racing and it runs perfect. If you look at the pic of my bike you can see the pods. They are 2 into 1 pods
