GS650GL alternative (shorter) speedo cable

Hi everyone,
I just joined the forum today and have spent a good amount of my work-hours doing searches on the topic of speedo cable for GS650GL (not tacho cable).

I have bought a modified 650GL and intend to continue modifications. I would like to lower the forks for a more caf?-racer stance and I wish to relocate the stock speedo a little lower. I expect this will result in the stock speedo cable being considerably too long and bulging out somewhere.
I'd like to find a speedo cable that is shorter than the GL stock, something like 10 to 15cm shorter (4 to 6 freedom-units) and preferably connects directly to the stock speedo and sender gearbox.

In the search, I found that some gent put a set of Bandit 600 forks and front wheel on his GS1100 with a Bandit gen 1 cable working perfectly. This gives me hope that Suzuki engineers didn't change something that wasn't broke and kept using the same threads and interfaces until they moved away from mechanical speedos.

Do any of you know of a speedo cable that's shorter than the GL stock and connects directly on both ends? Or any other solution people have found for lowered/swapped forks on a GS650?
Cheers.

Not speaking from experience with any 650 Suzuki's but "L" model Suzukis have the tallest handlebars, longest cables. "E" and "G" will have shorter bars thus shorter cables, and the 650 "M" (Katana) models should have the lowest bars and thus the shortest cables..

Thanks!
I measured my cable to be about 108cm (42.5"). A quick ebay search shows the GS650 Katana cable quoted as 40" long so that's definitely a candidate. The same seller stocks a cable for the GS550 (1980) and GT range of bikes from the late 70's as being 37" long, does this sound about right?

Frankly, at the price of those cables, I think I'll just buy both and see which one fits better once I've changed the stance, but any input on compatibility of threads etc is welcome

Those measurements seems odd, the "L" bars are sure more than 1 1/2" taller than the regular and sport model Suzukis. Can't help with "For Sure" interchangeability, but would have thought probably all GS's, speedo cables fittings would be the same, and length was probably the only difference.

I'm trying hard to image why you think handlebar height has anything to do with speedometer placement

Aw shirt "T", you know how my brain thinks sometimes ... Must've been thinking clutch cable, ain't it near the same as a speedo cable...
