A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The bike started making this noise and it's continued to get worse over the summer. My neighbour seems to think it's the cam chain. This is my first summer with the bike so I'm not familiar with the internals and how they fit together. The noise only seems to happen at idle, whether the engine is warm or not. The bike has 28k miles. I would greatly appreciate some troubleshooting assistance.

Might be cam chain adjuster- installed right and not frozen from sitting, it automatically takes up chain slack. Don't listen to worsening noises, fix problems.

Thanks for the advice. I guess what I'm looking for is a trained ear to hear the problem and with better certainty then my ear, give me a better idea of what the sound is. I'm working on the assumption that a loose cam chain has a more specific sound then other internal engine issues.

My old ears can't help here. But if chain skips on sprockets, the noise will be real unpleasant ! Best to figure bike is calling for maintenance of many items. Don't assume that all is well, be sure.

It doesn't sound like the chain to me. It sounds like cam walk which is very common in these bikes. Does the noise stop when the motor is spinning faster than about 1500 rpm? Search for cam walk, there are plenty of threads on the subject.

Yes of does! Thanks I'll search the forums!

I am having a clatter in the top end of my back, I would like to see if some more seasoned ears can point me in the right direction on identifying the source. This is my first bike to own and maintain and first Suzuki to even ride. I have a link to the video of the engine sound. https://youtu.be/9Duuq8Trjlc I am hoping somebody sees this soon. I will be posting on other threads as well for ideas and tips for the other minor issues I need to deal with. I am new to this site and forum obviously, so any direction is greatly appreciated. - Lonemoccasin

They all do that sir !. It sounds like cam walk, my 750 and 100 do it sometimes its annoying and embarrassing.
