GS850 Wheel Rim Markings

Hi All

Wondered if anyone could help.

I have a front wheel rim off a GS850-GZ with the following markings on it J19 x MT2.15 DOT. Im thinking about purchasing another front rim and the markings are slightly different they are J19 x MT1.85 DOT.

I know J is the flange type and 19 is the diameter but does anyone know what the MT markings stand for, and if it is ok to use the MT 1.85 rim as a replacement for my MT2.15, rim, which came off the bike.

They dont appear to be related to the width of the rim. Ive searched google and the forums but couldnt find anything about these markings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only the regular G model 850/1100 ('82+) have the 2.15" wide front wheel, most all other GS bikes came with a 1.85" wide front rims. At any rate, I don't know what the MT is for (tubeless maybe?) but you are free to use a 1.85 since the only difference is the width.

MT doesn't stand for tubless maybe, it stands for Maybe Tubeless (MT)
