DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok, ok, I know it is not a GS but hear me out. I have a 1976 GT185 that I got given to me about 15 years ago. I have had it running in the past but not in almost 7 years! with the cost of gas these days, I decided to take a Sunday afternoon and see if I could get it running and I did! (rough) So does anyone know of a furum for the GT series bikes or can anyone on this site give me a hand. Just basic questions and parts resource is what i'm looking for.
Thanks,
J

Any 3 of those links will help. I used all of them when I had my 76 GT250
Nothing like the smell and sound of a 2 stroke.
PM if there are any questions I can help with

Worked on very few of these when they were new. Fairly rare over here - it was an odd size to sell as learners could ride the GT250 which was quite a bit faster so that's what sold like hot cakes.

I also think the 185 suffered from Suzuki not knowing where to place it - sports bike or commuter? It was replaced by the X5 200 - a pocket rocket that could hang out with the 250s - and the SB200 which was most definitely a commuter.

Sweet little motors - very quiet for a stroker. Only problems as I recall were holed pistons (mixture and timing essential - pretty much standard for the GT range) and gearbox problems (though these were probably caused by newbie riders crashing the boxes - there's nothing in the box that a GS owner wouldn't recognise).

The last model (1977 GT185B possibly or did it get to 1979 C ?) in white was a particularly pretty bike in my mind.

Here's a 1978 but couldn't find one of a '79

The '77 may have been the white one you were thinking of.

Thanks Doug - that's the white one as I remember it. I don't normally go for white bikes but that was a little cutie.

Holes in the pistons ?
The 380's were known for that, you could count on rebuilding the top end twice a year. I did.
Didn't know they put the Ram Air shroud on the smaller ones.
It did work as advertised.
Good luck.
